The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' vs. Roddy Ricch's 'The Box' for No. 1 on Hot 100 Next Week

 

Roddy Ricch's "The Box" and The Weeknd's "Blinding Lights" appear set to battle for No. 1 on next week's Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated April 4).

 

According to projections based on building Nielsen Music/MRC Data figures, "The Box" (released on Bird Vision/Atlantic Records) could draw over 60 million in airplay audience, 30 million U.S. streams and 5,000 downloads sold in the latest tracking week.

 

"Blinding Lights" (on XO/Republic) could sport over 75 million in radio reach, 25 million streams and 10,000 sold. Bolstering its profile, parent album After Hours arrived March 20 and could launch atop the Billboard 200 with over 425,000 equivalent album units, marking the biggest week for an album so far this year.

Meanwhile, the two top-selling songs of the week could belong to Kenny Rogers, following the legend's death on March 20. "The Gambler" could finish atop the Digital Song Sales survey with 15,000 to 20,000 downloads sold in the week ending March 26, while "Islands in the Stream," with Dolly Parton, could sell 10,000 to 15,000.

It's too late, the sales/streaming week this is in reference to is over as of last night at midnight. The only thing that's left to count is radio, which counts until Sunday (AKA the update we get Monday morning).

BL will easily get it I think. But I thought it was also easily outstreaming the box

Doesn’t this basically mean Blinding Lights is #1? They always post these kind of articles when a big song is being dethroned iirc

I think so. They did this for the week bad guy went #1 with the Thursday bundles (thank god she squeaked that week in, it deserved) or with OTR's sudden jump

I hope BL makes it  it's probably going to be its last chance, the album bomb is the biggest push it could ever get. That garbage box song has to be replaced!

If Billboard wrote an article that means BL most likely has the #1 song and dethroned The Box 

The Box has those YouTube streams on lock, if The Weeknd loses......
