Yeah that's why I said I see both sides. 

Because if they really want to be transparent, the ticket and merch should be clearly priced separately when buyer makes the transaction. They should be explicitly priced as an option.

 

I mean there are people who get albums without knowing it just by merely paying for a concert.

Can’t artists just say the shirt costs less than it does and include the album with it? I don’t see a point to this.

 

Most bundles dont have an option for JUST a shirt, the bundle includes both the shirt and a digital download with no option?

You're not just buying the music, you're buying a music experience, one that includes music that's not identical to the music on the album. Buying a concert ticket does not reflect a desire to buy an album's music - if people wanna buy the music on an album then they'd buy the album.

True. But the intent to listen to the music is still there. The same can be said with streaming, people don't necessarily "buy" it.

 

Buying a tshirt though isn't even close to being a music experience and that's what billboard is trying to resolve right now (maybe not successfully just yet).

 

If they really want to be firm on rules, they should be clearly priced separately when buyer is buying tickets but we know this will not happen.

I can't @ some of you not understanding it/bothered to spend 1 minute to read it  

At least tour bundles are safe  couldn't care less about the rest

They have to also offer the shirt without the album which has to be 3,49 cheaper than the option with the album bundled.

About time. Billboard charting via merch is a vanity metric anyway. Some of these artists doing the MOST just to say they went #1. As a musician, your album going #1 only because it came with a sweater is odd. 

 

Barbs are celebrating like Nicki didn't use bundles just to go #2. Same way she ranted about streaming just to end up not being much of a streaming force.
