Moving forward, in order for an album sale to be counted as part of a merchandise/album bundle, all the items in the bundle must also be available for purchase concurrently and individually on the same website.

Wait, I take it back, scam cancelled. :skull:

@billboard I have an idea if you want touring power to be reflected on the BB200. Make each sold ticket count for the tracking week of the concert. One ticket should not equal one album sold obviously, maybe 1/10 or so. Have it count for any album where over 51% of the tracks are performed (so for SWT that would be both TUN and Sweetener hihi). This was cancelled concerts/tours don't count and the music consumption is counted in the week of the consumption and doesn't give super inflated first week sales. If eras with big singles get to have big album sales so should albums with big tours.

This is a great change, the merch bundles basically giving away a free album with a t-shirt were absolutely ridiculous :rip: The $3.49 rule makes sense

This is actually an interesting idea. Don't agree with counting it as less of a sale than a non-bundled sale, but this could help sales based artists give their albums legs instead of the high debuts and immediate drops we've seen for many. It would also prevent the issue with cancelled concerts as you mentioned.

labels will probably stop selling merch bundles after the change

Selena's store has made the bundle-less merch available but it's really really hidden on the website, on the other hand the bundled merch is right on the front page. Guess labels already found their way around the new rules.

“Merch bundles”

But if you insist we can get rid of the 13k sold through the Papa Johns promotion. That would bring Red US sales down to 4,437,000

OT - This should have been applied to tour bundles tbh

for anyone confused.

right now : $ 25 T-shirt + digital album

future: $20 T-shirt and $25 T-shirt + digital album. (or minimum at $23.49)

so people can have option to buy t-shirt without album.

I don’t get it.  Can someone summarize?

if you have on site tshirt, shrit with album than it has be like

tshirt 5 dollars

tshirt plus album 7 dollars <-- this will be counted as sale

if on this site there will be only tshirt + album, it won't be counted

and this can happen only official sites likes selenagomez.com not some belikeselenadot com

I’m glad they made merch bundles stricter and kept ticket bundles the same :clap3:

Ticket bundles WON :cm:

they couldn't have changed this before superm snatched summer walker's #1 off her?

Remember when Nicki was releasing $5 merch and STILL lost to Travis? :lmao:

:bibliahh: The $5 merch was a poster+album plus it had also been sold on the streets. :deadbanana: I'll never forget the free TIDAL bundle mess too. AND she also added FEFE to the album, but still FAILED to debut at #1. :bibliahh:

Anyway, new rules sound reasonable.

This is the only thing that could lower the sales from tour bundles but I don't think it will be a big thing.

But this was always been the rule with ticket bundles :clown:

The starting price for an album to count should have been 6.49$ for digital download not 3.49.

But it’s different with live shows because a tour almost ALWAYS is coincided with the new album being promoted so you’re gonna like that artists newest album if you’re seeing that iteration of their act. Looking at who your fave (she’s mine too I’m not coming for you) you should be aware of that. The merch bundle adjustment is absolutely perfect but the jury is still out on tours in my opinion. Even if it’s nosebleeds It’s still an indication of consumer interest. Whereas buying a bandana and a sweater shouldn’t count as two album sales

i don't remember Gaga or BLACKPINK doing tour bundles  .. CELINE did tho

TOUR BUNDLES is music related yes but still we all knew most of the tickets bought are due to the "HITS" especially those of legacy acts... TOUR Bundles inflate the sales and is not a reflection of the true popularity... with 2 options per zone like nosebleeds($60 and $63.5 with the album) or lowerbox ($100 and $103.5 with album) and so on and so forth, at least there we can identify the REAL Number of people with REAL Interest towards the new album... because atm TOUR Bundles are like concert freebies which in my opinion is not accurate measurement of popularity

6.49 for the first couple of weeks.. after some weeks, i am not sure with the no. of weeks, the minimum is $3.49 for both digital and CD

The Barbz on Twitter are running with  a Trumpian tale about her influencing this change when she was doing merch bundles and tour passes the first week too and we all know on here, it's just that she lost :deadbanana2:
