The charts don't work there where you live, because they don't exist! Charts (apart from the US and the UK which have a long history and impact) don't really cater to the general public, they're mostly used for music lovers, analysts and insiders, which ATRL is full of. Media Forest's Spotify chart is indeed the Spotify chart for Israel... so, useless. I hope IFPI Israel considers a comprehensive all-service chart which is the only correct representation of the residents' music consumption taste. Let's not mention how only Spotify reveals precise numbers, for the others you have no data.

well i'm all for an official chart for music fans i never expressed objection to that.

All I said is that the general public wouldn't care too much because they are so used to the Galgalatz Charts which are considered the most important ones. If there will be a chart to combine radio and streaming that would be interesting to see I just hope people would actually care about it.

The general public doesn't care about the Italian charts either unless their favorite artist goes #1, yet like everyone else in Western and Central Europe we have a respectable SPS top 100 for both singles and albums. I don't see why a music industry that's expanding at a fast pace like Israel wouldn't at least set up a cute lil weekly top 20. Radio and YouTube are only incorporated in charts by Billboard (it's clownery imo, since people have no control over what the radio plays while they decide what to buy and stream); I think YouTube Music, which is a paid for service, should count though. As for the certs you talked about before, I just recalled Eden Ben Zaken's label claiming her debut sold a whooping 60k pure copies... yeah, no. We need IFPI Israel to come through with official numbers

The UK and I think Spain also include YouTube in their charts now.

You do have them in theory, but no archive exists on the CAPIF website and nothing has been published about them for years, so they're virtually non-existent. Sometimes articles are posted here and there about a song or an album getting certified in Argentina, you never know if it's true though.

I agree that it's weird they don't have an archive or the criteria for the certifications. But it still exists and they're giving official certifications to artists.

 

This is an artist from Argentina and you can see the logo of CAPIF in the certifications.

Streaming is growing more than predicted here so I think the public is finally transitioning (for the most part), artists usually post when they get a plaque for their album (aka when the label buys one for them ) and with how imported pop culture is affecting the young generation here I think a chart will eventually become important.

Just checked with someone who understands and you’re right about the certifications being unreliable.

we’ll i’d love to have a more reliable chart system but idk if anyone will ever do that.

Whether we like it or not, YouTube should be counted for the chart and certification since it is part of music consumption nowadays but of course it should be limited to official channel/Vevo.

I contacted both Prophon and BAMP. Yeah, the Prophon top 10 is expressively a useless radio and TV airplay top 10.
