Not to suggest even more rate ideas but are more rap (female rap specifically maybe, considering what website we're on) rates something worth exploring or something there's an audience for? For example maybe a This Was Hip-Hop type thing or taking a couple of rap albums by women from a year and rating them against one another (I know we've done a couple of those before, there was a 2014 one for example but 3 of those girls had sizeable fanbases on here at the time)

Using the Neo-Soul 2000/2001 as a basis and looking way back at those years, for example, we get some combination of:

 

2000 - Kim, Da Brat, Rah Digga, Trina, Amil

2001 - Foxy, Missy, Gangsta Boo, Eve, Angie Martinez, Queen Pen, Rasheeda, Lil' Mo, Mystic

 

Potentially others I'm forgetting. There might be other years that work even better, these just came to mind as examples because of Foxy's Candy being in the Neptunes rate.

Just while we're out here adding some variety to the rate proceedings. Maybe it wouldn't work or there's no audience for it anymore idk  And obvs if we have done some of these before just ignore me

in the 2024 "soft landings" (flops) rate - that itself flopped so hard that the results have yet to be revealed - there was a lot of complaining about having to listen to megan iirc, it's only one data point but my instinct is that it's a hard sell

Yeah, I'm just wondering if the issue is when rap albums are lumped in with non-rap albums or whether it's rap albums in rates as a whole, if that makes sense

Yeah, maybe you're right. Though it may not have helped that neither of those albums had that many people fighting in their corners.

As much as MBDTF may still obviously have its defenders (though it's not MY favourite Kanye album), I feel like Kanye in a rate in 2025 might be... a hard sell on here.

OutKast in a rate in some way would be nice though, considering when I checked for the Neo-Soul idea I realised TW2000 never ended up being finished.

 

ATCQ would be nice to have in some capacity too (they were in TW2016 right?) but

Maybe. But why not try a rate with a bunch of good, popular albums and see what happens?

I think your best bet is to test things out with singles of the rap girls? But I think that's been done with a small group of us.

Yeah, I saw there was an Ultimate Rap Girls rate at some point a whiiile ago with all the obvious big hitters

A rap girls singles rate/re-do kind of just runs the risk of Doo-*** winning yet another rate I fear
