MUNA - "So What"
i agree it feels like it could be a grower. i do like the chorus quite a bit, but maybe the verses are a little drawn out. hope i like the pacing more in the album's full context.

Olivia launches mural, OR3 imminent
this is exactly why she's using this strategy. i really dont think it's that deep. i would say i understand thinking it's pretty close to becoming a bit gimmicky if there isn't an announcement in the next day or two. but we're pretty much at the pink that she wore at the oscars afterparty yesterday so...

Say something positive about Taylor's Showgirl which isn't related to its success?
ophelia feels like a culmination of many of the themes of her career pre-folklore. sonically, it's great pop, while in concept brings back the shakespeare allegory from love story. it's definitely her best opener since willow in my mind.

Kamala Harris doubles down on 2028: I could get us on the "correct trajectory"
at the end of the day, it's not about one person. the dems as a party have a problematic strategy. they continue to placate extreme conservatism. as if giving in to MAGA rhetoric will bring those voters to their side. meanwhile, their actual base is not being spoken to at all. it's not about kamala or any other dem as politicians individually too much anymore. i personally want to see whether they take the 2024 loss as a reason to go further right. THAT is the recipe for disaster.

Gracie Abrams shades Taylor? "I don't want to put half-assed albums written on tour"
correct message but incorrect messenger. i doubt this is actually taylor shade though, and is more just her pov considering her style whether you like it or not. but atrl can't help ourselves can we lots of swifties are about to block her unironically

Taylor Swift - 'The Life of a Showgirl'
ophelia might be one of her best songs period. it's got so much energy and passion that I've missed from her at times. if you haven't played it on a good speaker or heard it in a larger room, you're missing out. 'you wrap around me like a chain, a crown, a vine' brb going to listen to ivy

Sabrina Performs "Tears" | 2025 Video Music Awards
gagged tbh. great performance, and lovely trans rights moment at the end as well.

AJ Lee returns to WWE
what a moment. twonderful pop, and the reaction online has been absolutely phenomenal. extremely deserved. probably the only person they could have ever brought back that would get me to keep an eye on this again.

Pitchfork reviews Man's Best Friend a 79. Gagged?
whenever i see pitchfork ratings grouped like this it always looks bad LMAO. its much less about mbf getting 7.9, i think that's a pretty fair score, but some of those under it...damn. subjectivity!

Better P4K 7.9 rated album - Evermore vs MBF
why are y'all setting sabrina up like this... mbf is growing on me quite a bit but evermore is a masterpiece

More impressive 3.5M debut: Adele's "25" or Taylor "Life of a Showgirl"
no hate to taylor, but it's adele for me. the four year gap between albums, and then returning like that is just extremely special to me.

Is the debate over who's more talented, Sabrina or Olivia, finally settled?
didn't we just have another hypothetical comparison thread about olivia and sabrina 24 hours ago...LOL

Meta created 'flirty chatbots' of Taylor, Selena and other stars without permission
unfortunately not surprising at all. as soon as deepfake became workable, straight dudes immediately made porn. they can't help themselves, and it's only going to get worse as the tech bros continue to ignore valid criticism of these advancements.

Sabrina on her album cover controversy: "Y'all need to get out more, I think"
this is the opinion i agree with the most tbh. she can't really take the 'touch grass' approach when she's the one who created the controversy and it was very obviously a decision to create conversation and generate publicity/infamy. i would like to actually see reasons (beyond that implied manufactured one) that play to the artistry itself because on my interpretation of the music, i don't think it's as ironic an album as sabrina may think it is, nor those who took the cover to be satire. i don't have a major problem with the cover in and of itself in terms of freedom of expression, but the lack of her artistic reasoning makes one think that it actually was just to provoke a sort of feminism culture war. and i dont think she needed go there to sell this album whatsoever considering the short and sweet success which already had a more sexualised expression from her.

Sydney Sweeney dating TSwift's archenemesis and has-been Scooter Braun; TMZ confirms
- Is this pop girl the actual queen of soundtracks?
aurora is super underrated, but it's hard to ignore ellie for love me like you do almost alone. that song was EVERYWHERE when it came out and never got annoying for me.- Albums that randomly slayed you this year?
what do you MEAN THAT tiktok influencer made an absolute smash album that's one of my favourites of the year??? I DON'T NEED YOUR DRUGS I'D RATHER GET, RATHER GET HIGH FASHION- Sabrina Carpenter - 'Man's Best Friend'
emails is still my favourite album from her fairly easily ngl. i think it has the more interesting thematic quality in its music, and just a lot of catchy tunes without becoming too much of an ear worm. it also works really nicely as a full package. man's best friend definitely has potential to me. i could see this one growing for me beyond even sns because the highs of that album (which were very high) kind of became overplayed to me, but we'll see. the only thing i'd maybe question is how quickly she's releasing these. maybe taking a beat for a year or something might help the music and her overall framing of what she wants to write about grow. id love to see more diversity in it. but at the same time, she's still made something really enjoyable to me.- Sabrina Carpenter - 'Man's Best Friend'
it's a weird choice too considering lyrically and sonically it kind of works as a bridge to this album from SNS as well. definitely one of my favourite's on the record. it fits perfectly with that unabashedly forward nature of this album while maintaining a bit of goofyness that i enjoy from her.- Better: Sales or Popularity?
sales and streams always prove points that go beyond stans. you see it with the hollywood box office constantly as well, loud fanbases online dont necessarily correlate to actual ticket buyers, and that's the same here. support and word of mouth obviously matters, but there are so many 'silent' enjoyers of music outside of this bubble that the objective measurement is really the main way to discuss popularity. - Is this pop girl the actual queen of soundtracks?
