ADELE has no song doing over 1M daily streams. Why?

Featured Replies

ADELE's highest streamed song today was Set Fire to the Rain and it only got 903k. Her next highest are only at 869k and 768k rip

While good numbers in theory, for someone who was supposedly massive and the biggest artist throughout the entire 2010s these numbers are quite tragic when you put it into perspective.

Why is no one streaming ADELE? are the rumors that her albums only sold a lot because people mass bought them as christmas gifts true and no one truly ever liked her music?

Discuss and stream her best song while you're at it!

Or maybe the massive amount of people who bought the albums still listen to them on a CD player?

They're playing it on the 20 million pure sales of 25, 30 million pure sales of 21, and 1 million downloads of "Hello" aka $750 million in revenue alone - streaming will never compare to that revenue

Leave Adelesus alone.

Also she's been out of the public eye for like 5 years what do you expect rip

Adele hasn't released in 5 years and unlike other stars like Rihanna or Britney she's not a prominent celebrity figure in other ventures.

It is surprising and disappointing that 21 is getting significantly less streams than TD, TFM or BTD considering how huge it was. But I do think that she will easily bounce back when she releases again.

argument that she hasn't released in 5 years isn't really a good one when many catalog songs from years and decades ago are surging.

Will you move your goal post to 2M once SFTTR, Skyfall and Someone Like You hit 1M during Fall season? suburban

Big recurrent numbers need constant promotion, even Taylor dropped after the Eras Tour.

  1. As mentioned above: people listening to the music they already bought on iTunes, physical CDs and vinyls - not streaming.

  2. She's been away from the public eye for a minute. As soon as she releases new music or goes on a new tour, the hits will grow in streams a la Taylor and Ari-mania.

You can say it's because she hasn't been active, but is Katy Perry being active really beneficial to her catalogue streams instead of those streams being high in spite of her embarrassing herself every time she pops up? No matter what, the streams from the 21 and 25 hits should be much higher given how much bigger those eras were at the time than every hit that outstreams them now.

Well, she doesn't do anything noparty

But also there's clearly something going on with spotify's algorithm. I mean look at the katy perry song skull Lots of things are not making a lot of sense....

25's streams are especially embarrassing I have to say. I mean, Hello is only doing 360k and it was a huge moment for her in 2015 rip

There are album tracks from the same year that are outstreaming it!

Yes, inactivity alone cannot possibly explain it.

People trying to say that people are listening to her music on CDs is absolute insanity rip. So much legacy music does incredibly well on streaming, even music with high physical sales. Most people listen to music by streaming, even if they'd previously purchased the albums. Adele doesn't have some enormous contingent of listeners who exclusively use physical media. Artists much older than her pull enormous streams. Besides, 1989 is the second best selling pure album post-2010 and does absolutely monster streams. Gaga sold plenty of pure back in the day and The Fame Monster pulls crazy streams.

The numbers are shocking given the size of the albums. She did end up in sorta the Norah Jones path (albeit still far bigger) and that's okay. I'd venture a guess than a 2026 Adele album would barely barely outperform Gaga and Beyonce. 30 is 5 years old and has yet to crack 10 million equivalent units.

Adele had a singular album event in the 21st century and an absolutely enormous follow up. She'll always be legendary for that. But it's perfectly fine to point out that the albums are doing lackluster longterm compared to other 21st century blockbusters. She was very of her moment. But that moment was singular. Even if TFM or 1989 unseat 21 as the best performing album of the 21st century in a couple of decades (and that would still be surprising), Adele did it without a re-recording or deluxe reissue. She sold an ungodly amount of pure when pure sales were already majorly dying. Those albums will always be legendary.

This weird obsession with streams deadbanana2

I'm convinced nobody here genuinely cares about music.
