  1. Right and the question is literally who had a bigger celebrity peak what part of that is not clicking?
  2. The name "Christina Aguilera" is bigger than Genie/Stripped/Moves like Jagger because she herself was actually very famous. Even excluding the USA, Dua is nowhere close to that level of fame. You're also forgetting that stripped was one of the biggest pop eras of the time all over europe; she was all over the tabloids there too, it wasn't just the US.
  3. The USA is the most dominant cultural touchstone in the west, pretending otherwise is silly. Like I said, Dua's hit singles might technically be bigger, but Christina was still much more relevant & famous.... Her rivalry with Britney, feud with Eminem, starring in lady marmalade, her inclusion in big pop moments like the 2003 VMA kiss, etc. all put her on the map much more than Dua ever was. It's why even at her lowest Xtina still has a fanbase... there was a 5-6 year stretch where you were guaranteed to see Xtina if you turned on mtv/tmz. I actually prefer Dua's music and think she seems like a kinder human than Xtina, but facts are facts. People remember levitating more than Dua herself, whereas people remember Christina's name despite her singles flopping after 2002 because she was way more famous
  4. Im sure we can conflate some global streaming stats to say Dua was bigger commercially, but at the end of the day Xtina is the only 1 who was an actual celebrity. Even at her peak, Dua felt like a faceless fad in the states.
  5. I hate sounding so righteous but it really boggles my mind people believe these day traders/course sellers who claim to be millionaire playboys with 10+ sports cars. Swaggy C does it too. Its hilarious because why on earth would a real millionaire (who's apparently so rich he can afford multiple bugattis) sell courses and advertise stuff on podcasts lmfao.
  6. Isaiah replied to Achilles.'s topic in Base
Its definitely a little too wordy, but even if you don't understand a single word she's saying the melody of the chorus is pop crack. This is completely anecdotal, but yesterday it played on the radio during my uber ride home, and the middle-aged man driving me was humming the tune.
  7. I feel like the long-term solution is for companies to start making a distinction between impressions and views. The tiktok/reels/new youtube definition (watching something for 2 seconds than scrolling) feels like an impression, whereas "views" should refer to how many people actually watched it.
  8. This is the correct answer. The industry used to be able to control it so most of what we heard on the radio was the new music they want us to consume. But now I can open TikTok and randomly get hooked on a song from 2001 because people are using it on edits of my favorite movie etc.
  9. If giggling at your deranged rant (over nothing) means a nerve was struck, then so be it! At the end of the day, you having such strong feelings towards her is only helping.
  10. Nope, I was quite-literally responding to your post asking why "Morgan Wallen decided to compete".
  11. Morgan Wallen controls everything about his career and uses she/her pronouns? I didn't realize that!
  12. Her ability to illicit such aggressively-deranged comments like this (over literally nothing), is exactly why her fame & brand will never die
  13. idk when yall are going to grow up and realize labels decide to push for #1 whenever it's in reach. The actual artist doesn't wake up, decide they feel like blocking someone, and start making phone calls
  14. I think coming across their videos by coincidence is one thing, but intentionally searching for someone's videos the next time you g**n after seeing the news of their passing is definitely strange. At least let them rest in peace for a few weeks lol.
  15. The radio mattering when trying to quantify the country's listening has nothing to do with me liking Taylor Swift so I don't really see what you're trying to imply here.
  16. I used to think this too, but eventually you get a little older and understand why the radio audience needs to count. Most adults casually tap to "modern" music via radio/curation.
  17. Phoebe is releasing soon and if she sneaks into AOTY i think she cuts a huge hole in Olivia's voter base. But her album isnt out yet and we have no idea how it'll be recieved, so worrying now is moot.
  18. Taylor promoted his album all over her story in 2020, its the only reason I bothered checking him out during the pandemic, so this idea that she leeched off a much smaller artist with no actual mainstream success is laughable. Yes, Olivia/Conan did a couple cute promo tiktoks for Fearless TV, but pretending like Taylor Swift, "used" them of all people for promotion is ridiculous. You are very delusional if you think Taylor benefitted more from Olivia/Conan being "swifties" than they did by being branded as Swifties and getting posted on her socials The idea that a conan gray tiktok is more valuable than a Taylor Swift endorsement is just comical. I know im just one person, but my entire timeline was streaming drivers license/kid krow BECAUSE THEY WERE BRANDED AS SWIFTIE A lot of you really do get mad over delusions
  19. yes, but its one of the only songs thats consistent across all 3 of Apple Spotify and Amazon. Most of the songs above her on each platform are non-existent on one or both of the other 2 platforms , if that makes sense.
  20. The older half of gen alpha will be nostalgic for Short n Sweet
  21. LMAOOOO weren't these supposed to ship next week? This is gonna cause such a funny mess here all week
  22. Showgirl has 12 songs and is 3 debuts above "the red wall"
  23. It'll be close, and it's not guaranteed. You have to remember Billie had a smaller partial day, but also had 3 less tracks. If her average streams per track follow the same ratio of "partial day to 1st day" streams as Billie's did (x15 multiplier) that puts Olivia right at a 67m debut.
  24. I don't watch the show nor do I think Hudson/Connor are that hot, but there is clearly a group of people out there frothing at the mouth at any opportunity to take them down, and it's very bizarre.
  25. This feels like a massive setup on day 6. Slow down lol
