Not shocked. The last 3 presidents of my country were a mess and they were more busy stealing money-corruption than caring about education

Germany: young, dumb and broke.

Everyone is clutching their pearls over here... while schools are left to rot and have been for idk 75 years now.

Teachers have almost 0 power, parents dictate the way, we get sued even for the seating plan these days.

We have more and more kids in schools whose parents are nazi-hooligans and alcoholics who cannot read.

We have nore and more kids in school who are mentally ill or lack the mental and behavioral capacity to learn.

On top, the government sent all the refugee kids to regular schools with 0 German language skills.

I have 3 Ukrainian kids in my 9th grade who speak not a single word German. They have 4 hours of German-language lessons per week... wow.

One 9th grader slapped a female collegue in the face 3 years ago.. his punishment: 2 weeks suspension and nothing else.

Our school system will on react once a student murders a teacher. And even then... I know for a fact that all the education-professors and psychologists will put the blame on the murdered teacher... like a few years ago when 2 girls (12/13) murdered a classmate by 34 stab wounds, left the dead body in the forest, went home and did tik tok dances). People here actually defended their actions... "they didn't know what they were doing... well after the 12th stab in the warm body of their classmate, with all the blood splatter out... in their faces, on their clothes, and her screams in agony, pain and pure terrified panic... I think the 2 murderers could have known that what they were doing, was not OK). But that's just silly old me.

Children just got the worst PISA scores recorded here of all time

Not surprising because the public school system has been deprioritized for decades at this point, parents don't think their own child's behavior and school performance is their responsibility and get mad when child is disciplined in any way, kids are screen addicted and dream of becoming Youtubers and influencers, numbers of students per class has grown to upwards of 30+, teachers are not paid well and work in bad environments, many "teachers" are uneducated 20-something year olds that are just looking for a pay check for a year so they can backpack around Asia, less classes for children with special needs, etc. Many educated teachers quit within a couple of years.

The parents with resources put their children in private schools.

It's frighteningly low for a European country but it's in the government's best interest to make the new generations dumber and dumber. The educational system and curriculum hasn't been changed since communist time so essentially I've studied what was force fed to my parents 30-40 years ago.

And no one from the upper governmental levels bats an eye. Instead they introduced a controversial bill that would prevent any discussion of anything LGBTQ-related + mandatory religion classes <3 I'm sure that will help 7th graders read without stuttering and following text with their finger OR teach them basic human decency because these new generations are acting like neanderthals in and outside of school.

where did u get this figure from? And murder is just a small part of the illegal issues
as far as I know, the criminal percentage of crimes from immigrants proportion to the population is higher

The results declined everywhere but Turkey, Slovakia and UK, which remains the same. There's a bigger problem out there and nobody is paying attention to it. I keep reading people blaming immigration as if AI and governments deprioritizing public education weren't happening. The world is getting dumber and if we want to change, the call needs to come from inside.

I'm so glad I wasn't born into this generation. I love my younger brothers and sisters and none of this is their fault, but I'm so so so appreciative of the fact that the universe threw me into the ring before iPads and AI got to go anywhere near my childhood

Oh well, whatever. It'll be fine, is all one can tell oneself.
