ATRL STAFF PICK | Bronze Avery has a great single in “ADDICTION №1,” and it deserves some love on ATRL. His new album, IT’S ALL FUN & GAMES, is our latest staff recommendation as we spotlight more openly queer Black artists whose music we’re excited to share.

The singer, songwriter, and producer has been releasing music as Bronze Avery since 2017, exploring queer desire and relationships through sensual dance-pop. In 2021, he won Billboard’s inaugural NXT competition with Charli XCX as his mentor. His albums SOFTMETAL and HEATWAVE followed, and IT’S ALL FUN & GAMES continues that catalog with 13 tracks.

“ADDICTION №1” is our starting point, but we’re recommending the full album. Give it a listen below.

The snippets he teases on Tik Tok are very good, especially the one in front of his mirror where he mentions Mariah Carey, Sade and George Michael. That one sounds like heaven.

King, I love him! I wish he'd get a hit!

Can you all follow and help me to spread Bronze to the world?

1 DAY UNTIL ALBUM RELEASE LFG

AOTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

It's very 80s. He gets better and better!

I love this and I find his vocal tone so soothing!

ELUSIVE is really elusive

Oh wow I really like this. Aside from WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? and GOOD FORTUNE that turn quick into repetitive, background music, the rest of the album is so good. The DOG SAY? to ELUSIVE run... whew!!

My top 3: DOG SAY?, CLAIM, MF =$

Litchrally obsessed. This album is amazing! ADDICTION №1 is my fav, but they're all so good!

Highlighted by ATRL, yay

Oh dang, I didn't realize this came out last week. I thought it came out tomorrow. Yay! Listening.

I remember hearing scan and copy for the first time and wondering why isn't this artist bigger.. Now i'm listening to this project wondering the same thing

ELUSIVE is everything

Just listened to his album right after MNEK's one and that was the worst idea I could've ever had...all of Bronze's productions sound flat and lack depth next to the crazyness MNEK gave us.

ADDICTION N°1 remains my fav, love this fresh, summery sexy lounge vibe with his voice. INFRARED, GOOD FORTUNE, VOLCANO and CRY FOREVER! are cool as well. The rest is cute but it's not explosive enough. The way it's mixed does not allow the songs to really shine and stick, it's too compressed, too thin. Everything seems at the same level.

I liked CLAIM at first, but the more I listen to it the more it sounds boring.
