KATSEYE - "Animal"

As for the tour rehearsals only starting now, most of the choreo are probably set to go already, with only the new stuff being for the rehearsals now.

I know people enjoy the way they do the performances when one of the members is out, but I can't with the gaps in the choreo and the vocals going with no one singing. rip

Well.. there you go "Gnarly ruined k-pop" haters.. you got your generic and dated pop song y'all have been asking for. Personally, I will never listen to it again, just cornball uninspired garbage..

  • this EP contains multiple alter ego divided into WILD and MILD personalities this one is for their alter ego Vixi who is on the MILD side of the EP oh Beethoven don't make that face

they didn't do that with Manon though, they been singing her parts (and I think the "Manon sized gaps" were unintentional 😭) Sophia's situation seems to have happened more unexpectedly / last minute (like right before this recent show happened and the upcoming dates are v soon too + hers is prob a more traditional hiatus as opposed to a soft launch departure) so I suppose it'll be harder to readjust completely

it's crazy that Lara didn't want to be the leader and now she'll have to act like it / likely be the one answering all the questions and stuff during arguably their hardest period yet skull

I think it's "we're giving her as much time as she possibly needs" and as of now September is the next check in date. The earliest I could see her make an appearance is end of September for the "Forgotten Island" premiere where she has her first movie soundtrack song — and then rejoin the girls for the US leg of the tour in mid October

But it genuinely seems like she's burnt out with her ADHD reaching an unbearable, unmanageable level. And that was from a podcast recorded in May. So I'm glad she's finally taking her first break since moving from the Philippines to LA to join HYBE in 2021, and actually taking proper time to focus on her health - since it's spiralled this badly

debuts at #27 on Billboards Pop songs

can we expect it to go top 25 on the Mediabase chart soon or is it still far away @jdanton2

on Sunday night the Harry Styles song above it will go recurrent . if it does not happen before then it will most likely happen then.

song is gaining in spins at Pop but other songs above it are gaining as well.

I feel so bad for these girls. The company they work for sucks.

Hopefully they can find a way to share their talents in a more healthy and creatively interesting environment soon.

How did you even come to that conclusion? She's literally unwell. HYBE and Geffen listened to medical professionals and gave her the time off she needs. This is the first health-related break Sophia has taken since the group debuted deadbanana4

lol you believe Hybe? They said the same thing about Manon. Manon said she was the healthiest they've ever been in her statement.

Their company will be there biggest downfall. Poor girls. Started off with so much light, you can see them dying inside in every new appearance. I really would have thought that they would have read those contracts really well before signing

it made the top 25 at Pop radio this morning.

I believe Sophia is dealing with a (hopefully not too serious) health issue (mental or otherwise) for her to go on hiatus literally a week before a new project drops, with a major tour coming up and the Manon situation still lingering + comments like "you can see them dying inside in every appearance" feel needlessly dramatic and unhelpful.. along with the very weird way people online talk about these young girls, who are unfortunately seeing a lot of the discourse themselves for sure

I do agree the companies are very shady, not just Hybe but Geffen as well, who must be quite involved logistically since they're based in LA. and after the most recent posts from that other forum insider paired w Sophia's hiatus, the whole situation looks sketchier than ever.. basically confirming Manon was fired when at first they kinda suggested it was also her decision cuz the lifestyle wasn't for her (which I believed because at the same time some of their behavior points towards them not really wanting to let her go either?) but now it seems their team didn't even really like her? (prob cuz she did set more boundaries) maybe she did skip/miss stuff and was causing internal delays but having (technically) both of the 2 oldest members on "hiatus" is an awful look for their team and the way they operate

I think they should be adjusting the workload (or work environment) AROUND the girls rather than expecting them to adjust to it (or end up punished/pushed out like they seemingly did with Manon, if that is what happened) they're making them a lot of money and as far as the public was aware all of this behind the scenes mess could've stayed behind the scenes with better professsionals managing them, I don't see how this helps anybody short or long term (including their business)

We need updated numbers on how many units each of their EPs have sold @okgo

That's a beautifully put-together piece!

I wanted to add a bit of my own perspective, though it might seem a bit like I'm watching them from afar. As a long-time fan who's been following them since their early days, I've noticed a change in how they present themselves. They've faced a lot of public scrutiny, and I can only imagine the challenges they've faced behind the scenes. It seems like many others have also noticed this shift in their dynamic, as it's been widely discussed online.

Their schedule is incredibly demanding, especially since they perform the same choreography at every event. It's not even the most popular pop stars in the world who have such a rigorous schedule. Maybe Britney Spears at her peak, but Katseye isn't quite there.

After the Grammys, they should have taken a month-long break before diving back into rehearsals for Pinky Up and other projects. Instead, they've been immediately back to work with deals, videos, rerexordings, and a 12-hour rehearsal.

I'm a bit surprised that no one on their team is addressing this. I suppose when the money is flowing, you want to keep your main attractions busy.

not to sound like the devil's advocate but I do get why this would be the moment to go all in for them.. you could feel they were about to have a big breakout moment earlier this year so now would be the time to put that much effort in (obv never at the expense of the girls health if it came to that though) many huge artists have talked about how many hours they had to put in at some point, and unfortunately the entertainment industry in general has a very "show must go on" attitude towards performers as we know with many cases we could bring up

according to the same insider, they delayed the release of Animal for a bit precisely so they could have another break (which I assume was when the girls posted about being on vacation last month) it's complicated and we don't know what's actually happening, so it's hard to say anything definitively imo all we can do is hope for the best and show the girls that they have a lot of support too michael

the viral tweet abt that was posted on the EP thread, I think the account was being sarcastic with the 5k reply but I'm skeptical of them (and this whole thing in general as I said, even if their story aligns with the other insider) the Katseye related ppl removed their likes from the IG post as well (didn't scroll thru all of it skull)
