KATSEYE - "Animal"

Featured Replies

I was talking about the hold up of announcing Manon's obvious departure with friends last night and one who's a lawyer asked if they had any active campaigns still going with the original lineup - and then I remembered this was posted 11 days ago

And this was literally posted yesterday

L'Oreal literally owns Matrix, I can imagine how ironclad this brand deal was between them and HYBE Geffen. They hired the 6 girls with the intention of each promoting different hair textures. The campaign launched literally the day before Manon was put on hiatus in February. Regardless of the endless drama, noise and think pieces, Manon technically, by all legal terms "is on hiatus for her health and well being" and is still a "member of KATSEYE" allowing L'Oreal/Matrix to continue posting and fulfilling the contract they hired HYBE / the girls for.

My friend then said it was probably at least a year signing with L'Oreal - which mean it prevents HYBE from technically officially "removing her" without them having to pay a fine. Though you'd think at this point they would just take the penalty with how much of a PR nightmare this whole Manon situation become. But then he also brought up the point that HYBE wouldn't be sweating cause the bottom line has proven to be untouchable regardless. The album has a 1M presaves on Spotify, they just had their biggest opening week with "Animal" on Billboard, and of course the world tour is 100% sold out.

He also said they need A LOT of time to iron out what's going to happen to Manon with her lawyers. Its clear HYBE Geffen set up/approved multiple brand deals for Manon in the meantime to keep her happy (Coach at Coachella, Tommy at F1, Jacquemus etc) Whether she stays with the company (which I don't see how she'd want to at this point) and what that severance package would be if she does part ways with HYBE Geffen - they''ve probably been sorting out all the details these last few months.

I know its kind of wild to think that a hair campaign is what's keeping the obvious from finally being announced, but when I saw them still posting about it as of this week, it does make sense, which means they'll probably go on the world tour with her still on "hiatus" and the announcement probably will come in the new year... Or the deal isn't that long and it gets announced sooner. Then everyone can finally move on with their lives dies

yea it def makes most sense but then you go on social media and several eyekons are under some kind of collective hypnosis thinking they cracked the code on her comeback date

having their official social media accs wish her a happy bday and Sophia say things like "the door is always open" doesn't exactly help tho

I don't think it's just about the fine. It's also a marketing tactic. People are tuning in to see the drama, what are the girls saying about the situation, are they all still friends, did she get kicked out, will she'll reappear, etc. To some degree it's advantageous to them and their brand to be ambiguous and keep people guessing because it keeps people interested and engaged.

I miss Manon though. She deserves better than to be a marketing tactic.

hope it's not something super serious and she's healthy asap dancehall

but so she's gonna miss the entire EP release week promo deadbanana will she even be ready for the start of the tour

The fact that it's a mental health break. She's been on the receiving end of so much abuse online. These poor girls weeps

the insider posted something abt the tour and VMAs but deleted so I guess they are (or were?) supposed to perform there too.. the show is only on Sept 27 this year though skull

What did he say? The VMAs Where so obvious this years

This Sophie stuff seems so serious. I really hope she recovers soon. At least this time they have been specific and the girl herself posted about it

I think it was basically implying she might be missing both (a part of the tour and the VMAs)

well tbf Manon posted something herself (the day after her announcement) too right? skull the "I'm healthy and taking care of myself" one

I'm glad she's at least posted and confirmed she'll be coming back weeps

The hate these poor girls get have been receiving is far too much and the majority isn't even about their music.

She is obviously going to Miss the european leg of the tour. It starts early september, there a just a few weeks left. The fact they just started rehareals was already weird.

At least they are saying another video is coming, and yes..I agreenis going to be weird (just like the fact the in the movie we are going to see scene s of Manon)

About the VMAs: it's weird since they are being hosted very late in september

I don't have insights into any of what this person is saying, but I don't think what they are posting is entirely true.

Tours are a massive production that take a lot of planning. If the tour starts September 1st. I would think that video content for the show was being filmed and produced in June or July, so I do think Sophia will be featured in it. They could've even shot a lot of it when they were shooting the EP creative.

I would also imagine whatever visuals and music video is dropping on the day of EP release will also feature Sophia. I think Sophia's hiatus will impact the upcoming physical commitments.

Yeah yeah Of course Sophia will be in visuals and stuff. I also think they will feature her vocals in upcoming performances (today show and jimmy fallon) just like they did during hinterland.

they could be wrong here ofc but they've usually been spot on with their scheduling / what is coming up and stuff over the last year

Just teal bad timing for Sophia to announce a hiatus 1 week before album release.. She is supposed to be the leader of the group. Maybe it would have been better for her to just take a hiatus from performing. She could have been still promoting without performing. Anyway if the leader of Katseye doesn't care about the group then why should we care? Unfortunately this could be the beginning of the end of Katseye. At least they still have their most important member Lara.

How did you even come to that conclusion? She's literally unwell. HYBE and Geffen listened to medical professionals and gave her the time off she needs. This is the first health-related break Sophia has taken since the group debuted deadbanana4

debuts at #27 on Billboards Pop songs

can we expect it to go top 25 on the Mediabase chart soon or is it still far away @jdanton2
