Why music in 2026 feels so low energy and boring in comparison to fun , carefree , high energy music from a decade ago?

we definitely still have fun, energetic, carefree music in 2026!

Gaga released a fun, carefree, high energy song this year.

As someone who remembers 2016 kinda being mid...it still had better quality songs being released tbh. I think a big part is that the charts moved at a faster pace a decade ago than this year has. The songs in the top 10 didn't spend AS Much time there as songs do now. Streaming was also still newer so not every genre caught up yet.

overall 2016. but i'm thankful The Chainsmokers no longer exists in 2026

I think this is nostalgia because the tropical edm pop trend was painful

Beyoncé is so nasty for attending the Met and disappearing from the face of earth, especially after letting her mom and Kelly tease act iii. She will hopefully still save music this year, though, maybe not on May 29th though.

Today's top hits on Spotify sounds like producers scrolled on splice for 2 minutes and go with it.

mid to late 2010s pop music was actually so bland and disappointing compared to earlier years. it was a wave of sad prententiois slow pop slop. everyone just has nostalgia now.

Music this year has been great you just have to try really hard to find it.

While I don't look too fondly back on 2016, at least I could name ou 5 sings from it. 2026 xan't relate.

Because the new generation is boring, ignorant and low energy maybe ? so it gets reflected in what they listen to. It also reflects on Spotify where new music struggles a lot while older songs go viral and get a lot of attention. It's a generational conflict.
