  • Where's Period in the OP? OT: Kesha, sweetie…Kesha is leagues ahead of Katy in terms of artistry, versatility and songwriting. The numbers don't lie. Thank you, Bonnie McKee

  • Kesha and its not even close either...

  • Katy only has one masterpiece of an album, Teenage Dream, the rest of them are meh. Kesha has multiple, Gag Order/Eat the Acid alone >>>

Katy has more classics but Kesha evolved better, so i do have to go with Kesha. Her classics kinda feel more timeless too, imo. I, personally, use them more.

Kesha has way more range, who else has something like Animal/Cannibal and also a Gag Order in their discography?

Going with the Blah Blah Blah songstress.

Teenage Dream & PRISM are better than every Kesha album. But Kesha doesn't have a low blow like 143 in her roster.

Going with Katy anyways given how classic Teenage Dream is.

Kesha has multiple, Gag Order/Eat the Acid alone >>>

What multiple classic albums does Kesha have…

And if you say Eat the Acid is a classic but not PRISM, ur being unserious.

Katy Perry wrote all the songs on those albums so why would you thank only one of her co-writers? Especially since that co-writer had no success outside of those songs she wrote along with Katy. Be so fr.

The way Animal has a yellow score, the same way Gagas first three albums also received harsh reviews from critics, solely being because back then pop girls weren't taken seriously at all and were easily dismissed as untalented etc 💀

if you want me to play it simple I can just say that Katy has never made an album like Rainbow and she's also never made an album like Gag Order, so take that as you will bird

if you want me to go further into detail, being fair and including all of the projects both of them have made... well

I'll give Katy some credit, she has a pretty great singles discography. from I Kissed a Girl all the way to Never Really Over I'd say that her singles discography is something for the books. but Katy never perfected, nor even really tried to make a story in the course of, the album format. Kesha has that to her advantage: every album of hers, including Animal, has a throughline which makes it unique and memorable and compelling. Kesha never had a Teenage Dream, but she got close with her 2010-2011 run. she didn't need one though because she was able to captivate a still very loyal audience of teenagers and young adults with her freak-flag-high anthems. I won't knock Katy and say that she doesn't also have some pretty great deep cuts (Mannequin, Circle the Drain, Who Am I Living For?, This Moment, and Roulette all come to mind) but this is really like comparing a Domino's pizza to a fancy meal in Italy. Kesha's an artist on a whole other level than Katy. Kesha's trajectory is more comparable to, say, Kate Bush's, while Katy's is more comparable to... Ed Sheeran's perhaps. it's like, Katy absolutely has bops, but she doesn't go deep the way Kesha does. in addition to Kate, Kesha reminds me of artists like Bowie, T. Rex, Janet Jackson, Super Furry Animals, Santigold, Kimbra, Everything Everything... a pop and mainstream (for the time) sheen at first, and then she's not afraid to go hard and get profound and touch upon more primal feelings. Kesha has made a song comparable to songs from Fiona Apple's masterpiece. Kesha has made a song that sonically could've been on The Cars' debut album. Kesha has sung about fantasy with childlike wonder to her. Kesha's music is the closest mainstream pop can get to art rock. there's really no contest michael

Katy Perry is not able to create something decent on her own without talented collaborators and that's a fact.

Kesha is.

Ironically, Bonnie Mckee knows it too.

This lie rip.

"The Drama" alone wipes Katy's discography idk what else to tell you

Gag Order is the only album by Kesha I like + a few other songs vs Katy has Teenage dream and Prism + a few other songs... so Katy

This is inaccurate. Katy literally wrote Thinking of You completely by herself and that song still goes viral til this very day. It's a beautifully written song. You can hate all you want but saying shes reliant on co-writers is just a silly talking point. Especially considering Kesha works with collaborators as well.

I mean beyond that, Katy has writing credits on quite literally every song shes ever put out. rip Your argument makes no sense…

Every artist has co-writers. You act like Katy just sings songs that are handed to her which can't be further from the truth.

well, if she's that talented as a songwriter, maybe she should use her talent to write some good songs? Cause Woman's World actually shows the lack of talent as a songwriter.

Speaking of ballads, Kesha has Past Lives, which is a beautiful and actually pretty clever masterpiece. All I need is you, keep in mind she wrote this BEAUTIFUL masterpiece about HER CAT, who can write this good about a cat?! It's gorgeous. Spaceship, Cathedral, and more, she's such a versatile songwriter ugh her mind.

Kesha. The only misstep in her discography is High Road.

But I will say, (most of) Witness and some of the Prism tracks (Spiritual, Choose Your Battles, Legendary Lovers, etc) were a really good sound for Katy, and I think she would be a much more respected artist today had she continued to explore that sound, and her discography would look much better, too. But she didn't, and that's her own doing.
