Hey gays. I bought my own place a few months ago and I've been slowly filling it with furniture. The main problem though is that the walls are looking very sad and bare at the moment. I've got a handful of pictures that I bought at random events/exhibitions over the past year, but I need a lot more. I've tried looking online (and I've been getting lots of targeted adverts) but it's all so cheap and soulless. Where do you buy artwork/wall decorations? I quite like art deco and mid century styles but I'm open to ideas.

Just look for galleries around. You can also dm artists on instagram and commission paintings.

I've heard good things about this place. They're not originals, but the prints have more personality than the typical soulless offerings you can find on print shops. Prices don't seem outrageous either

I usually find artists like this one on social media. I discovered her a few years ago and her journey has been exciting to watch. Don't know how much space you have but I do try to avoid having to fill every single corner, you can always play with illumination like scones, tall lamps... or plants and other items like some statement piece (could even be a framed tour poster from your fave).

Edit: maybe consider mirrors too, they cheat the eye into giving the impression of a larger space.

If you go to art courses at a community center or some place you can end up with really nice stuff of your own

Search for some local art fairs; when you find a shop selling products that fit your vibe, look up their Insta - all the local artists probably all follow each other on there. You will then be able to discover even more amazing arts
