She said she would quit music if she started flopping, and did she's been mostly lowkey about where she is for the past 3-4 years cause of some stalkers showing up at her doorstep with death threats over and over, it's really sad (and a miracle we even got the Girls Aloud tour to begin with, she went into hiding right after)

I thought her holding the record for most UK #1s by a solo female artist was kinda tragic, but then Jess Glynne broke the record so I realized I was being too harsh on Ms. Cole

She knows she can't compete in pop at this age and doesn't need to embarrass herself trying.

She's living comfortably after her recent(ish) arena tour with GA, doing the odd brand deal if the money is right but mainly, being present as the only parent her son now has (which must still be tough).

didn't she say she'd quit if love made me do it flopped? well there you go and honestly she has no credits/major royalties on her biggest hits so i imagine music was never super profitable either her brand is still kind of there she could do much less for more $$

I feel like she quit because of the X Factor performance backlash, and probably also didn't realise that LMMDI was a terrible first single choice. Let You as the lead would have been a top 10.

She's one of my most played artists on last.fm, but yeah, as someone said, she couldn't compete with today's pop, especially after 7 years of hiatus (solo music) but I would buy anything of her solo work if they have plans (her label won't) to rerelease her records on vinyl or just a greatest hits compilation.

I used to stan her so hard but it's such a shame she quit music, I'm hopeful that somehow the album that was meant to come out in 2019 eventually sees the light of day

Solo music would tank. X Factor really gave her that platform to shine, but without it, she would've struggled.
