  1. And where exactly did the capital to launch D'ussé come from? He just twisted his thumbs between 1996 and 2012?
  2. Really? Like what? 'The benefit', where do you think those billions came from exactly? Nepotism? And one moment Beyonce owes all her success to Jay-Z, the next it's vice-versa for you people One of them must be successful then, who is it?
  3. Anyone who feels the need to start threads like this knows nothing about Hip-Hop. Jay-Z is a rapper. A straight Hip-Hop rapper from the 90s. His peers are Nas, Biggie Smalls, Tupac, Busta Rhymes, DMX. None of these artists sing. Jay-Z brought the Hip-Hop to new commercial heights in the 2000s and paved the way for Kanye West, Drake, J Cole, Nicki Minaj; rappers who consequently blurred the lines between Hip-Hop and Pop even further, all off the back of pioneers like Jay-Z. The fact that you created this thread to try and shade him and deny him of any relevance in 2026 is reflective of his impact alone.
  4. Just WAITING for him to post some corny **** like "I've learned my lesson. In solidarity with Palestine, I have now decided to cancel the remaining dates of my tour."
  5. Yeah, he feels less "everywhere" now so I find him less irritating. And Pink being the only person to ever have beef with him definitely makes her stick out here, not him.
  6. I feel like Ed knew what he was getting himself into bringing him on tour. And, though a polarising issue, this is probably beneficial publicity for him overall. Zionists don't have the power to empty out his stadiums in 2026.
  7. Selena's impact on pop is minimal in the US and non-existent outside of it She doesn't have one song that's even half as influential or successful as Royals. She is known as a Disney-star-turned-entrepreneur outside of the US, if even thought about at all. There is no need to insert your fav into a conversation just because a conversation is being had.
  8. lol is P!nk ever going to speak with her chest or are cryptic story reposts all she's got? Thought she was pop's rebel girlie?
  9. More like shed tears about her still thriving in her mid-40s. Why would I upload my personal videos to YouTube for the sake of some stranger on ATRL when proof of crowd excitement is literally in the very video you posted?
  10. One minute the stadium was empty, next it was only full for Beyoncé, next no one cared enough about Beyoncé to sing happy birthday to her. I was there. Everyone was so overexcited to see her that the song was drowned out. Does 0:17 sound like lack of motivation to you? What you gonna attempt next?!
  11. Is chopping up my quote you trying to prove something here "CaptainMusic"?
  12. Yea... I ain't been on here in a week but let me get my last word in. Trying to place a bunch of "gotcha"s on me when: - I clearly made MPGs the point from my very first comment, though you've made out like it was some mid-argument switch-up. Their trajectories track the shift more clearly than one off/mid-tier hits - Trying to make out like I said Royals was the sole influence of the 2010s' change in pop tastes to catch me out and deny its influence, when other factors and artists were mentioned from the very beginning - Originally denying that there was even a change in pop at all, then changing your point to "Royals wasn't influential to it" once disproven - Eventually having to admit that 'Lorde was influential' after posting dozens of comments trying to deny what is easily her most recognisable, most successful song of any influence Sweetie, you jumped through so many hoops just to try and downplay Lorde's success that your intentions just became increasingly obvious with each comment (they were obvious from the beginning). What I originally wrote was "Mainstream Dance Pop stalled in 2013 and struggled as a genre for the rest of the decade" and "Royals was a catalyst to its demise". No one has ever said "Royals was solely responsible for the change in pop music and not a single upbeat pop song was successful for the rest of the 2010s because of it". I noted a trend that took place over 7 years and that there were multiple influences, big and small, to this trend. Royals had a big impact when we look at the influence of individual songs. It was not the sole influence. Trying to exaggerate people acknowledging Royals' impact's points in order to disregard it isn't slick. Since we've finally admitted that 'pop music changed throughout the 2010s', I'd love to know what songs you think were influential to this change, if Royals wasn't one of them.
  13. LMFAO wtf is a 'Lordie' and what on earth makes you think I spend a second of my time thinking about her streams Stop letting your agenda mistake me for anyone's stan pls.
  14. Trying to frame not being a songwriter as synonymous with versatility and as a talent Everyone knows Rihanna is not a songwriter and It's literally ok. She has other strengths.
  15. "Make' doing some extremely heavy lifting here!
  16. Here's a songwriting camp to make u feel better
  17. Where is the lie when it's 'verifiable' that Rihanna lacks a writing credit on over 50% of her discography and doesn't have a single writing credit on Loud, the album that was supposedly her most authentic to that date? Yes, but I wouldn't expect 'rihannafan' to know much about songwriting.
  18. Oh and they just forgot about Paul Epworth? How rude!
  19. She's credibly broken down the songwriting process for literally every track on Teenage Dream and pretty much all of Prism too at some point or another. She openly wrote to pre-exisiting beats on songs like Dark Horse, but this is not the same thing as 're-working demos', and her lyrics clearly weren't meant for Three 6 Mafia. She is a songwriter with credit throughout her discography as well as on other artist's hits, and objectively isn't in the same category as Rihanna, Selena Gomez or Ariana here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhBBtqPclf0
  20. Say what you want about her pen game by the time of Witness but Katy Perry is a songwriter by background and placing her in the same category as Rihanna and Selena Gomez for songwriting involvement is nothing short of idiotic.
  21. Goodnight Gotham is literally 90 seconds of chopped up Florence and the Machine vocals with no additional written lyrics yet somehow she scored a writing credit on it. Enough said. I'm sure there are many such cases in today's industry though. Rihanna is just an obvious one as she went from having entire albums with no writing credit to being credited on (practically) the whole thing as being a non-songwriter simultaneously became less respectable during the 2010s. I don't doubt that she took further control of the reigns, but I don't believe she was a core writer for the entire album.
  22. Your "receipts" are literally songs by the exact artists whose trajectories I covered in my original comment. And if you read the full comment rather than trying to catch me out with an excerpt, you'll see they don't overturn my point at all. I was covering MPGs because their trajectories during that period are a much more accurate measure than quick hits by minor stars. I.e. exceptions. It was also clear in my original comment that songs with heavy influence from other genres cannot count and why this is. Because we're talking about poppy pop songs by poppy pop girls not being very trendy. Because songs like Royals came in, minimalist and hip-hop/trap sounds took the space, and the big pop girls largely moved with that shift. Genuinely why is this taking you so long? Is it an inference issue? That's also the second time you've listed Break Free after I covered Ariana. It's a collab with an EDM DJ.
  23. Great! Now give one example from that list being a solo MPG hit without the heavy influence of another genre... quickly now because I'm struggling here! The examples you've given are either heavily EDM, Dancehall or Trap influenced, and the strongest ones are from the very beginning of the 7 year period mentioned. There is no Espresso, no Poker Face, no Cruel Summer, no Last Friday Night, no Say So, no Pink Pony Club. Even if you did come up with one random example now, it wouldn't negate the general trend that BOTH of us have proven. Pop's general cultural dominance faded after 2013 and it's ok to admit it. You've already shown your lacking knowledge of popular music, all for the sake of discrediting Lorde. I'd put the shovel down now if I were you sweetie.
