I think Donald is very dangerous, but online outrage is just so performative. The actual dangers lie in the extreme-right stacking school boards and erasing LGBTQ+ books — So people should vote as those are very close margin races, the dangers lie in voter suppression laws across the country, so participate in voter registration drives in marginalized communities, etc etc.

I'm not saying celebrities don't have a role to play (they do), but I find the fixation some have had on the MET Gala to be really out of touch with where progress actually happens.. it's not at an annual party where 50% of the guests are severely intoxicated.

It's better PR for Gaga to skip, I'm glad she did for that reason. On the other hand, it's not going to make me think she's any more of an activist than someone else that did go — Since it's just such a meaningless event.
