Not to burst bubbles but she wasn't the only one that received the album. I remember his old forum talked about hundreds of random people getting it. He did respond to her letter though "Dear Lady, Unfortunately I will not be in NYC for a few months but many thanks for the cake"

The rumors of him not liking her stem way back to 2009. They supposedly never met but they did interact and she looks visibly uncomfortable during her Jonathan Ross 2010 interview when he asks her about the possible exchange. His son talked about Lorde being his modern favorite before his passing and his old drummer refused to join Gaga for the 2016 tribute because in his words "David was not a fan". I think David acknowledged that Gaga was talented but he probably wasn't into her artistry. Iman seems to like and respect Gaga for what its worth.

At the end of the day she has many other legends that respect her. Tony Bennett, Michael Jackson, Patti Labelle, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Gladys Knight, The Rolling Stones, Mariah Carey, Cher, Lionel Richie, Sting, Gloria Estefan, Carole King, and many more have all expressed love and appreciation towards her

Bowie and Gaga had a strange relationship but I would not group bowie with true OGHs like Grace Jones or Boy George. There was civil respect between them. Bowie's son was the only family member who publicly did not like Gaga.

Iman was photographed with Gaga in 2013, and this was at the height of the Artpop hate train so I doubt she'd take a pic with Gaga if her and Bowie truly did not like her.

Bowie never really vibed with being a pop star so I think there was a certain level of pretension that made him less inclined to like gaga's artistry. It doesn't really surprise me. He was also pretty wrong in his assessment of lorde being the future of music or w/e he said. 💀 Gar's sound was undeniably more influential at the time. Ah well...
