My mom passed away last week. I know I mentioned her wanting to hear a Beyonce rock album as she has anticipated it for years, and I'm so sad she didn't get to hear it before she passed (if that's wha

This is the worst timing to start a base from scratch. We will be on pair with the Rihanna base now. We'll reach 6 pages on February.

plot twist - she starting a fake beef w brandy to hype up act iii. she know any drama w her name gonna stick and she already exhausted her main promo sources. so why not stir up drama to keep the ppl talking til act iii drop.

I never knew Kelly and Beyonce fell out. When was that? I can't imagine Beyonce ever beefing with her.

It's funny watching stans that call Beyonce a flop mad at her for not validating their faves.

They're saying at some point in the 2000s they stopped talking and Kelly started talking **** to Brandy who reciprocated and said things like Beyonce never supports Kelly. Word got back to Bey and Bey and Kelly rekindled their friendship. I've read this in multiple comment sections. Of course this could just be a bunch of telephone.

Since this is a safe space, what do yall think of folks saying Brandy inspired every R&B singer (including Beyonce) and she modernized the sound as we know it today. Amber Riley from Glee was in comments defending Brady as your fave's fave and the vocal bible. Whatever the hell that means.

every r&b stan know yoncé, mariah, brandy, whitney, janet, mary j, aaliyah, erykah, and sade r the biggest influences in modern r&b. all have unique styles the younger gens draw inspiration from.

I am a big fan of Brandy and don't hear any influence of her on Bey. The only song she's done that's reminded me of Brandy's singing style was Part II On the Run

Hmm. First page!

I hope she finally does a Bond song in the next ten years (something cinematic like "I Who Have Nothing")... if not: we'll always have this gem "Woman Like Me" that was generally unreleased to the world.

Lemme tell you something about Ms. Bassey, mutha has the lungs of life! I was listening to 'Diamonds Are Forever' the other day and what a stunner. I too would love to hear Bey do something just as big and dramatic for a Bond film.

We can always do album rankings or drag her tours/looks to get to page 6. santa

I've never understood all the Brandy praise. Was there no vocal layering & harmonies in songs before she came along? She has a pleasant tone and a cute discography, but it's nothing groundbreaking.

From twitter discourse last year u gather Mariah did it first.

Ehh, IDK, I personally don't hear any Brandy influences in Beyonce's music and never have, but I haven't listened to Brandy since afrodisiac. Brandy only debuted 3 years before Destiny's Child with her debut album, and her big Never Say Never came out after their debut, which was way more pop leaning and most definitely didn't sound like TWOTW that came out the following year, and by Full Moon in 2002, Brandy had fell out.

While I appreciate her sound, and her voice, I think her story is way more revisionist as I was there, she had big hits, and a unique sound, but I feel like Lauryn Hill via the Fugees really help form female R&B sounds, especially on the WW level, and if anything, Destiny's Child (probably thanks to Wyclef), was more in line with the sound of the Fugees, not so much Brandy.

Beyonce's vocal arrangement style was very much influenced by En Vogue, The Clark Sisters and Boys II Men because she was vocally arranging music for a girl group in her formative years. We literally hear it on Destiny's Child first record. She wouldn't have needed Brandy because before she even debuted, Bey was a vocal producer.

i hate how the hive (mainly twitter hive) constantly fights with fans of lesser, extremely irrelevant or utterly forgotten artists. it's giving liddos still unironically entertaining katy in big 2025. who the hell cares what these expired jealous one hit wonders think of her lol. fighting with fans of kelis, keri hilson, shakira, jlo, britney, oinka, mariah or whoever the hell brandy is, is just so…beneath us and especially beneath bey idk deadbanana4

Very good point, and I agree with En Vogue for sure, and even SWV.
