Doja cat: what went wrong?

Featured Replies

Why she went from being everywhere in Planet Her to wherever Vie landed? And will doja bounce back or will she check in at the Khia Asylum?

  • idk maybe getting some fans is a start that requires good projects though which might be hard for ha

  • She neglected her fans and the GP stopped caring. It's what she wanted.

  • No Tiktok virality, no hit.  It's just insane how much some of these artists depend on tiktok to get a hit & move album units.

Alienating casual fans with demonic imagery and dumb fart humour and then lashing her fanbase at every given opportunity

Lets see:

1. Insulted her own fans

2. Made an album with a sound thats been done a million times this decade already (and better)

3. Does not have a supportive core fanbase

4. RCA is clearly not prioritizing her

i think its a few things.

1. alienating pop fans with her controversies during the Scarlet era (rumours of a nazi-adjacent boyfriend, her reaction to the one fan giving her his shirt off his back, etc

2. alienating the rap fans with an 80s sound for the entirety of Vie

and kinda a conspiracy theory 3. i really think since luke hasnt been credited at all on now two consecutive Doja albums, i think he's sabotaging Doja's new releases considering shes still signed under his sublabel Kemosabe Records.

actually sad, and its the way you can tell which artists are doomed to completely fail without a viral sound

there's a disconnect between her personality and her music. they don't match, so people aren't taking her seriously. plus she showed her whole ass during the Scarlet era and that changed the way fans supported her.

That neo nazi shirt / weirdo boyfriend arc was the nail in the coffin for me. I don't even actively bash her and don't care if others are engaging with her work, but the idea of me caring about anything she does gives me the ick.

She should've been a girl's girl during the Hot Pink and Planet Her erS

1. Being nasty to fans

2. Scarlet era shenanigans

3. Bad timed era

4. No viral songs

4. dated pop 80s sound

She will bounce back though because she's super talented and versatile!

She went to the Miley Cyrus School of "I hate my last era" and is now stuck on a loop.

This obsession with Doja Cat & Katy Perry is getting weird. :heart2:

She does this soft pop rap sound for way too long, people are tired. Just because she changed it to disco sound for this era doesn't really change the fact she has done this a million times. She should try something more avant garde, some big pop vocal stuff, enough of these whisper pop ****.

Acting like a ***** towards her fans ruined her momentum.

i have seen this topic more than i have seen my dad. she flopped we know

Doja did everything right. First releasing Scarlet which is an amazing rap/r&b album with timeless classics and solo #1 hits, which are difficult to get, not everyone has that. Then she worked with great musicians for her next record "Vie" and changed her aesthetic and vision, again giving us classics (lookin at "Cards", "Happy, "Gorgeous"), but the GP failed her. Which is a shame, since she is the only female artist of this generation that is actually interesting to look at.

Her personality mainly tbh. I have said this many times before, having a solid fanbase is essential if you want to stay relevant. See Gaga for an example, Gaga's flops were never real flops (ARTPOP and Joanne would still be successful eras for many smaller artists, those eras were just not it for Gaga's standards). Doja always does weird and offensive things to alienate any potential fans. Who would want to be a fan of a messy person, who lashes her followers at any given opportunity? I mean anyone would be scared to be in that position of that Tee shirt boy, having her pretend to act sweet in front of them then lash them out online later :skull: I said all this while being someone who have bought her signed Vie CD àn vinyl. Ahh turns out they were all AUTOPEN, another reason not to support her, a scammer.

I honestly think not touring PH was a big mistake, it could've cemented her as a touring force ww (since her era's afterwards have been far less global) and pushed her performing skills to the front globally

Scarlet truly only had PTTR as a global hit and it's been kind of quiet ever since. I think Vie would be a lot better received if she didn't alienate the goodwill she had built up in Europe with PH

i feel like this thread has been made every week since vie dropped :rip: the bad decisions made during scarlet era combined with the slow rollout for vie bit her in the ass, that's all
