Are signed inserts stupid?

Featured Replies

Seems every singer is doing signed inserts instead of signing the actual physical album. Obviously because they want to rack up as many as they can for high first week sales and don't want to wait until physical vinyls are ready

I always feel like signed inserts feel disposable, throwaway and a waste. It's not the same as having an actual album signed.

Jared Leto is advertising a signed personalised vinyl for $299, but the fine print underneath says: The signature will appear on the clear plastic cover, not the actual product :deadbanana:

I like them (when they're priced reasonably). I keep the few CDs I own in my car, so I keep the insert displayed somewhere I'll see it often.

i would say yes but this would mean i buy stupid **** so im saying no

It's literally just bc it's wayyyy easier (and probably cheaper) to sign a bunch of random pieces of paper than to sign actual albums, esp for big artists with a busy schedule and lots of travel. One of those moments where u do realize it's just a business lol

Tbf i just sign cds and vinyls myself so i don't really care

It diminishes and turns the original purpose of having your favorite artist sign something for you into something transactional: you now purchase something signed by your favorite artist. If I ever get one I'd still frame it and put it on display, keeping it separate from the handling of the physical copy. But these "U.S. purchase only" are a buzzkill and I'm not gonna spend x4 + shipping just for that.

Idk. I really don't think much of them unless they have a really cute, cool or unique signature. They've always been a thing. I have many CDs from different artists in different genres from years past where they have signed their name somewhere in the booklet. It's whatever, it doesn't bother me.

I don't mind it. I have a mix of both.

It only annoys me when the print is smaller than the vinyl.

I would say no, those who already sell autographed cd before it was cool would use either inserts or secondary booklet

This is how I learned Jared Leto has just carried on like he didn't get #metoo'd three months ago.

I don't really mind, but I do appreciate it when the insert is fhe actual album cover and it has the same size as the booklet, so I can slide it in the case and use it as a cover!

I have a signed albums collection but stopped adding to it after signed inserts became the norm, they feel less special even though in a sense it's the same thing

'Signed' albums using a digital pen however, that I will never get on board with
