HDD Final: #1 ENHYPEN 101k, #2 Dolly Parton 73k, #12 Stella Left 38k
Maybe next week, there are no major releases today except for that post malone mixtape. If it can maintain similar numbers with a full week of elevated streams it could get to #1.

ADELE has no song doing over 1M daily streams. Why?
Yeah I think a part of this is genuinely just that her music isn't well suited for summer, I'd imagine she sees a boost in the fall where it is more appropriate. Lots of artists with more varied discographies have this pattern as well. Ie. Shallow and AWRUTW do much better and rise to her top 5 during the fall and winter but have fallen to her lower top ten in the summer.

Did the Hiroshima level bomb that was Joker 2 end Gaga's acting career?
Yeah it really is a shame. It's such a great concept and I am grateful that artists at that caliber and with that level of resources went for something so bonkers. Still, I think you can tell that it really bothered Todd how much the alt right hooked onto the first one and desperately wanted to poke a hole in that, at the expense of the story ultimately.

Did the Hiroshima level bomb that was Joker 2 end Gaga's acting career?
"The offers have stopped" and mentioning her cameo in one of the biggest blockbusters of the year in the same sentence lol. I mean it really is a testament to her demand that they brought her in for a totally unnecessary cameo because of how much the industry loves her. Anyways, it is simply and demonstrably untrue from both a commercial and critical perspective that ASIB is her only successful role. The $12m paycheck for Joker demonstrates her status in the industry and her string of cameo appearances demonstrates her continued demand. I don't think Katy would have much success in film though, SA apologia is even more toxic in the film industry after the Weinstein saga and it's not like she has any residual star power to make the risk worth it.

Hot 100 | Final predictions (8/29/26): Texas #1 (x19), Boston #2, Loser #18
For all the drama here, Choosin' Texas is a legitimately great song. Even though the Hot 100 and current popular music is dire rn I'm happy to see this song succeed so much.

Did the Hiroshima level bomb that was Joker 2 end Gaga's acting career?
I mean not really. She's done movies pretty sparingly anyways (only three non-cameo roles over almost 10 years) and she did an album rollout and world tour directly after Joker so it's not like she's had much time to select and film something. The movie industry isn't like music where one flop can completely derail a career. She's a known entity in the business and a box office draw, she has her choice of parts whenever she wants them.

How did "I See You (Theme from Avatar)" do nothing for Leona Lewis' career?
For some reason all of the Avatar songs have flopped, The Weeknd's song didn't chart either and that was right after Blinding Lights. Not to mention Miley...

Spotify | Katy Perry - Watch It Burn | Day 24: 184,313 streams
No, ceiling is prob about 5k. Itunes sales are dead and US is by far the biggest market. 100k would put it within the top 10 biggest selling hits of the year... which obviously it isn't.

Spotify | Katy Perry - Watch It Burn | Day 24: 184,313 streams
Now how that chart works. It's a point system based on country and position. No actual sales are calculated into the chart. It's quite easy for a song to get high on that chart without actually selling much if 1 or 2 sales are leveraged strategically in smaller countries. If it has sold 100k it would presumably have shown up on the Billboard Global 200, which it has not done. https://kworb.net/ww/methodology.html

Selena's "Single Soon" - what went wrong?
Title was confusing. People saw it and assumed the song hadn't come out yet so they never tuned in and listened.

Why can't Katy Perry secure high-profile collabs?
I noticed that Katy Perry is clearly very hungry to collaborate with other artists (4/11 songs on her last album) but has been unable to secure collaborations with artists who have made hit songs. Even many flop artists have been able to secure features with artists who have had major hits recently. What do you think makes it so impossible for Katy Perry to secure collabs with successful artists?

World Cup performance made less noise than Super Bowl performance, why?
Kendrick had a really really big boost, especially with All The Stars, but the other halftime shows were still big cultural moments that majorly boosted an artists discography in the US, much more than FIFA. Even 10 years ago, Gaga's halftime show sent The Fame top 10 again + Bad Romance back on the Hot 100 (not to mention Joanne + MR). Compared to FIFA where I don't think a single song charted on the Spotify 200 that wasn't already there. Even beyond chart success they regularly produce viral cultural moments in a way this one didn't. I do just think it will take a moment for FIFA to get there though, people weren't anticipating a Half Time show which is part of what makes it so memorable.

Favorite female song with "Rock" in the title?
It's funny how these are all pretty good songs by completely different artists about completely different things in completely different styles of music. My gut says Rock With U for me but I have a soft spot for Pretty Girl Rock and several of these are among the most stellarly crafted tracks ever.

Did "Die with a Smile" help or harm Lady Gaga?
I'm sure she's crying all the way to the bank

MPGs guest episodes on RuPaul's Drag Race ranked per rating. Any surprises?
Gaga's episode is dragged down by not having a lip sync but that's not her fault. She pioneered the judges meeting the queens in untucked but unfortunately now they have total randos who have no caliber do it as well.

Better to retire on top or after a flop?
It's Friday night, is this the most pressing issue to you?
