well? what does that say that even one of the top best athletes in history needed to use this to lose weight? :celestial5:

(lots of comments about her husband being the reason, etc., real nasty comments.)

thoughts?

She was fine tho.
she has been amazing healthwise.
I hope she doesn't suffer any sideeffects and it doesn't affect her.
atleast she's honest. :clap3:

As a society we really need to stop shaming (primarily) women for using Ozempic because it's exceptionally dishonest to neglect the toll pregnancy/childbirth can have. The tl;dr is estrogen and progesterone are very high during pregnancy (to support fetal growth) but it drops basically immediately after giving birth, which can have long-term impacts on metabolism and fat storage. There's also prolactin (i.e., important for breastfeeding) which increases appetite and makes it harder to lose weight because the body needs to hold on to fat to produce milk. Even post-partum, elevated cortisol levels and insulin resistance are common (both of which make it hard to lose fat).

If a high-level athlete like Serena needs Ozempic, imagine the millions of women who don't have access to nutritionists, trainers, and coaches.

As a long-time Serena fan, she has a history of knee problems so I'm sure the extra weight can contribute to chronic pain or discomfort.

Lowkey hoping this means her knees are in better shape and she can have one last WTA run

my point exactly :clap3: it really is not a 1-2-3 thing when it comes to losing weight, it's def an interesting conversation that even someone like Serena would partake.

I mean, she's athletic af and still couldn't lose the weight she wanted - she's a perfect candidate for this medicine and a perfect example how sometimes, no matter how hard you try, losing weight is not easy for some people. After all, obesity (in general, not related to this specific topic) is now considered a chronic disease.

so basically, she just needed to not eat as much :rip: i get that its hard but what does ozempic do besides make you lose your appetite/prevent you from eating too much? its not like it changes the way your body burns fat (as far as im aware)

Not sure if using these weight loss drugs is better than being a little heavier. Serena was never obese so is she losing weight because society tells women they need to be skinny?

Everyone can decide what is ok for their body and take whatever medication they want and whilst I'm all up for removing stigma, I am also questioning what example does this give to young women/men who want to shed a few extra kilograms. Again, really not talking about obese people. How much do we know about the long term effects of these drugs? Do the benefits outweigh the risks?

Also, Serena's husband being an investor makes her ambassadorship so questionable.

It's her body and her business so who are we to judge what's best for her anyway...

But can't deny it's a bit of a shock that someone like Serena had to rely on this. You can't get more disciplined than an Olympic athlete.

The judgment. Glad she's happy. She looks great both before and after.

I thought she looked better with the weight, honestly. She wasn't even weighty, though, just a very healthy and voluptuous size. She still looks good, though!
