Mixtape for pop girl is weird, an EP would be better. Anyway I saw this coming, none of the singles she's released have done much just quick viral memes. The label will probably drop her if no song on this Mixtape takes off.

Unfortunately that's not how the label sees it. Those "best songs" need to translate into better numbers otherwise there's no point in them investing into videos and promo. It's may be entertainment but it's still business at the end of the day, money spent to make it must be made back with profit.

Yeah. It's a way for labels to avoid having to pay the advance associated with starting another contract period. The way record deals work is that each time you start a new contract period (an 'era', which is a set amount of songs you have to deliver, usually as an album) you get a cash advance (which can be anywhere from $5k for random indie people to millions if you're a superstar).

If it's a mixtape then what was the point of teasing the single for weeks? And then delaying the single?

Why even release a single at all?

Is Is It part of the mixtape or the album?

Were the singles doing that bad?

The first mixtape listening party is on Monday so hopefully we get the release date + some tracklist info. With the title 'WE WANNA PARTY', we need a bunch of uptempo bangers.

to be honest it's not like her label really tried with this new era considering we're only on single #2 but it's clear they were banking on Bliss to do something and it simply did not...

I think this is definitely a sign that they're not confident in the material she's recording (which is why they didn't give her an album budget and the promo has been lacklustre asf) but more music in a timely manner for us is always a win and it only takes one hit to get back on track so whatever!

I'm just here for the music and we're getting a new mixtape, which is all I'm excited about. 
 

I really don't care how the music performs, as long as it's good. It's not my concern. Charts are cute and fun from a stan lens, but it takes all the fun out of a thread when it's just page after page of "wuh-oh! Tinashe teas! She's over!"

The thing is tylas promo is off. She hasnt been performing on awards shows or late night talk shows

I love that she's keeping fans fed and giving us music and visuals this way she's still keeping her name and music out there and can launch the album when the timing is right. Smart queen

A downgrade from album to mixtape as your sophomore effort is not good in anyway. It shows severe lack of faith from the label. 

As long as the music is good irdgaf what she calls it.
