Yes, hi. I wanted to write this post  just to share that I have just been promoted. To refresh your memory, I have posted exactly one year ago about feeling disheartened over being passed up on a promotion.

 

 

 

 

I went into delusional mode and thought of making subtle threats , start finding a new job, or just completely shifting careers. It was hard to accept that my career had hit a roadblock but it was harder to accept that the job market right now is in the pits. Everyone is so competitive and I felt like Gwen Stefani releasing her comeback after her flop No Doubt return. The past year was like my Baby Dont Lie/Spark The Fire era.

 

But for those who are struggling in their current work or are very ambitious and think that they are moving at a slow pace... I just want to say to hang on and continue to do good work. There were times that I just wanted to slack off and work within my pay grade, but I also learned how to gauge on where I stood in the company. I learned to optimize processes, teach other teammates,  and build more relationships with senior people. Yes, I know that those sound like the typical spiel from career counselors,  but they worked. Sometimes, it is also important to know how to sell yourself. Like how Gwen marketed This Is How The Truth Feels Like as her "most personal" album. 

 

I'm not sure if this works for everyone since we are all in different situations, but to anyone who is at the crossroads of their career, do what is best for YOU. YOU are your own advocate.
