Her social strategy is...something. 

 

It's only because a friend mentioned that they saw her open for Kylie that I even remembered that she is on tour in the US. And I follow her! LOL

 

Flicking through her socials and it's one of two things:

 

1) She wants to deemphasize the fact she's opening for Kylie and is effectively moving low-key, collecting her bag, and keeping it pushing. 

 

or

 

2) Whoever is heading up her socials is prioritizing style over substance. So in the name of keeping a "cool", aesthetic-led grid, it's not immediately clear that she's on the road. Yes, she has the lil dairy videos, but between the pics and clips you don't see much of her on stage. 

 

The fact that the tease of new music was on a VENUE page is.... :-/

 

Whatever the case, her career continues to give "do whatever's needed to get from point a to b to z...rinse and repeat".

 

It's not lost on me that nothing about her ever felt "designed to be a "durable, serious artiste". So, her even still being around (in any capacity musically) is actually impressive. At the same time, I just feel there's a way more premium, coordinated, and effort-led means of at least trying to be a "pop star". Not just in terms of the social stuff above, but just in general.

I agree a lot, she missed completely all the things she should have done with the kylie tour to promote Heat and start this album campaign. What she's currently doing right now:

• Play the concerts
• Posting cute diary videos that barely shows the concert and only shows that she is funny and cute (not exactly news to anyone)

What she should have done so far:

• Videos that actually shows the "life on the road" thing, not fashion diaries (examples: morning coffee in tour bus, outfit-of-the-night clips, crowd sing-alongs)
• Tease Heat on EVERY concert and coordinate this with digital tease EVERYWHERE (examples: a countdown sticker, a tiktok snippet, behind-the-scenes of the studio content, etc)
• Allign her image with Kylie (some video content for socials with Kylie or dancers, showing that they support each other and maybe using the song teaser to expand to her audience)
• Stop acting like a brand page and be more authentic and personal

Everything from this promo campaign feels disjointed, if you look from a wider perspective the timeline is:

 

You & I flop rollout -> Ask + features randomness -> completely silence music wise while focusing on her acting gigs and brands -> Opening for Kylie out of a sudden -> New single drop

Like there's NO bridge connecting the dots for the audience and I think a bit more strategy like aligning socials, press, live shows and the single release would go miles toward recasting her as a pop star rather than a celebrity dabbling in music. 

 

But it's Rita Ora in 2025, I feel like this ship has sailed long ago.
