Taylor Swift is the anti-Beyoncé and she's only as popular as she is bc people have resigned themselves to mediocrity. the reason a lot of people (Gen Z in particular) hate Beyoncé is because they know deep down they aren't special, they'll never make an impact in the world, and they've given up trying. THEY see Beyoncé as a god (not the Beyhive) and they hate her the same way they hate the fake religious god for making them so unremarkable/untalented. naturally, someone like Taylor who can barely sing, can't dance, and writes 11th grade English class songs with riddles in them appeals to them because it represents a level of attainability akin to what they're capable of. it's also the reason Taylor has so many acolytes geared towards a gen Z audience in girls like Sabrina and Olivia. Gen Z has no desire to strive for greatness; they'd be fine gobbling down the same reheated Taylor nachos in perpetuity bc they know the world is doomed. 

 

in a way i can't blame them, but i do pity them. it must be really sad feeling that way about yourself and the world. i'm still an optimist ! and i'm also not a loser so that's why when i look at Beyoncé, i see someone who inspires me to be the best version of myself and to keep pushing. Gen Z and their preferred pop stars (save a scant few) want to tread water until they drown .. that's sad huh!

Except "BRAT" by Charli xcx. "BRAT" felt like an iconic POP moment, the likes of which have not been seen since the 2010's. Charli xcx is a Gen Z icon, but it's a shame that she is a subpar live performer.

 

 

Which brings me to my next point: None of the Gen Z pop stars are ICONIC, because none of them can perform LIVE. Billie Eilish just sits there and whispers. Tate Mc2006 just dances like a Danity Kane back up dancer. Sabrina Carpenter just acts like a prostitute on stage. Chappell Roan is kind of cool, but she's not sustainable and she'll self-destruct. 

 

 

The only good "all-around" Gen Z performers are Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, Doechii, and Doja Cat (to an extent). They dance well, they sing (or rap) well, and they have good stage concepts.
