  • Twitter links should be banned from this site now. Thank you

I've just gone through and followed all the accounts I follow on Twitter and most of them barely post on Bluesky. :rip: I'm all for standing up against that moronic troll but we're going to be so out of date with information if we're relying on Bluesky. :toofunny3:

If Twitter is banned I assume mirrors like xcancel will still be allowed? Those could be used if people are worried about edited screenshots.

Banning links but allowing screenshots isn't a good idea, tweets are way too easily edited. Either allow both or ban both.

We discussed this last night. If someone fakes a tweet they will be suspended. We can easily verify if it’s real or not.

Most data is on twitter I don't think we should ban links

Understandable. But a literal Nazi is running the platform and members are asking for us to not support it.

if twitter links are banned, can we still insert images from there? like this for example:

Yes.

So I understand not wanting support twitter but allowing screenshots and not links will probably end up in more ad revenue for Elon since I know a lot of people don't click on tweets. With screenshots people would have to go and search through twitter to find the tweet and verify it's real thus resulting in more ad revenue for Elon.

how saturated is bluesky by this time in terms of GP usage? I signed up awhile back but haven't logged in since then.

(I deleted my Twitter quite awhile ago)

Depends, sports and politics are fine. But if you're like me and like to search hashtags of your favorite obscure tv shows, expect close to nothing. The Challenge Allstars: Rivals had 2k live tweets last night when it aired on MTV. Bluesky had about 20.

In the release for Invision 4.7.20, support for the following has been added:

- Added support for Bluesky post embedding and share links.

- Added Bluesky & TikTok Social Profile theme links.

- Added Bluesky content sharer.

Look I hate Elon as much as the next person and it's great to add bluesky, but banning twitter will be such a huge derailment to the flow on content in the site. Really hope y'all reconsider this.

I'm opposed to banning the links. I don't understand why you need to do this considering how much content from this site comes from Twitter/X.

My initial feed was just anti Trump. Which, go off. Love that. But also that was all I was served even searching terms. Now since more people have been using the platform it has gotten to a point where it is not just "not Twitter." I am still however mostly served anti Trump posts.

It'll take some time to adjust since Twitter has years worth of content and active users, but as people move from a platform to another (and BlueSky's technology evolves with it) things will get smoother.

I think it's better to take a stance over a fascist who's ruined a social, used (and is using it) to influence politics all over the world and basically sits next to the Potus rather than to keep lining his pockets by using his platform for convenience.

i understand the frustration of banning [redacted] links but let's lbr most of those links are just links to actual news site or are memes that can be found on youtube or image hosting sites. You can copy the content of said links directly to your post and host the media on youtube/imgur and other hosting sites. Sure it's not as simple as pasting the link waiting for it to embed and calling it a day, but tbf said posts are lazy and should be deleted/warnable anyway
