it hasn't been like that for years... young ppl in asia now are westernized fboys with perms who listen to the same **** as everyone else. thanks to the streaming era western artists broke though in SEA and will continue growing in Hong Kong and India etc

It's true that they listen to the BIG viral hits as I said but SZA is clearly  having her own momentum with not only her big hits charting but also her old hits, non singles and features too, it's very impressive. I don't think she has ever promoted in any Asian country, they just like her music.

OT: SEA will always be up for good ballads 

SZAs success especially in the Philippines has always been impressive to me. Pretty much all of her recent singles do huge numbers there and it's her second biggest market after the US.

 

Does anyone from the Philippines here know why she is so beloved? Never saw any other R&B act chart there.

I'm not from the Philippines, but I know they love ballads whether they are pop or R&B.  They also loved Mariah, Alicia, 00's Beyoncé…

Whewww we love to see SZA breaking further into international markets. This should definitely bode well for her next album

Maybe in Japan and Korea, but it's absolutely huge in Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore etc.

Because despite what ATRL is saying that only white people are smashing in Asia, Asia remains more flavorful.
