Short term, they resume their career sure, but at what cost? And "Everyone is going to be watching like a hawk" is making me laugh given that didn't stop Hybe from doing 2345 shitty things to them for the past 3 years or so, and that was with MHJ at the helm watching, and now she is gone and there is no one left.

1st, their image was built on authenticity. Now they will be seen as hypocrites or traitors or whiners by BOTH sides of the fandom war, the anti hybe crowd / pro mhj crowd and the hybe stans crowd. It's a total loss of narrative control. The optics in Korea are bad.

 

2nd, going back at what cost? it's a pyrrhic victory. The staff that made them unique and made them stars is gone. Then given Hybe's output, their next comebacks will sound and look generic. Their career will absolutely tank. They are back in the machine they swore to escape from. Branding wise, It's career suicide disguised as compromise.

 

3rd, long term career is up in the air. Poor reputation + damaged career from poor output + association with MHJ post Hybe very uncertain. Hybe will do everything to use them against MHJ, and block future collaboration or transfer. MHJ's label was their lifeline for the next 10-15 years, and now it might not even happen. It's career collapse disguised as survival. They may continue as a group for a few years, then what? The capital and trust are gone.

 

It's not Newjeans admitting defeat, it's a total loss of identity, direction and respect. They will fade in relevance working for a company they hate and disappear once Hybe is done with them.

 

I understand Ador likely pressured the parents of the minor members who have no legal rights and little say in the situation, but that's basically the worst outcome, short term and long term.

newjeans was pure art and defied the corporate kpop formula. hybe is the exact opposite, everything they do is chart-gaming, treating art like a mcdonalds assembly line. feeding garam to a witch hunt then marketing le sserafim as a female empowerment group with antifragile and unforgiven says everything about how they view art, where short-term profits are prioritized over actual substance and narrative.

 

and min heejin was obviously the heart of newjeans. i hate how successful her smear campaign was to how comfortable people are calling her a pedo with 0 evidence of her being attracted to minors. if anything, that same energy should be shared for BSH who greenlit literal moaning porn audio for gnarly when yoonchae is still a minor. she is the picasso of kpop and newjeans is her guernica, and now m night shyamalan is going to mangle with it.

 

 

i dont know how the members are going to proceed, whether or not they have any power over the content they put out during the remaining term of their contracts (if they were forced to extend to make up for the lost time due the lawsuit as rumors suggest that would be sick) but it would have been legendary to just to experience life regularly, experience university, build up songwriting/design/production skills and come back in 3.5 years with complete autonomy over their art.

 

 

 

I hope because of MHJ's statement "I will still watch over their music" that she will be a bridge between the girls and BANA so we don't need to listen to Carbonara or any shitty Hybe-made songs from NJ

sadly ADOR is going to use the members to hand over everything they have to use as evidence against MHJ in her remaining cases
