Short term, they resume their career sure, but at what cost? And "Everyone is going to be watching like a hawk" is making me laugh given that didn't stop Hybe from doing 2345 shitty things to them for the past 3 years or so, and that was with MHJ at the helm watching, and now she is gone and there is no one left.

1st, their image was built on authenticity. Now they will be seen as hypocrites or traitors or whiners by BOTH sides of the fandom war, the anti hybe crowd / pro mhj crowd and the hybe stans crowd. It's a total loss of narrative control. The optics in Korea are bad.

 

2nd, going back at what cost? it's a pyrrhic victory. The staff that made them unique and made them stars is gone. Then given Hybe's output, their next comebacks will sound and look generic. Their career will absolutely tank. They are back in the machine they swore to escape from. Branding wise, It's career suicide disguised as compromise.

 

3rd, long term career is up in the air. Poor reputation + damaged career from poor output + association with MHJ post Hybe very uncertain. Hybe will do everything to use them against MHJ, and block future collaboration or transfer. MHJ's label was their lifeline for the next 10-15 years, and now it might not even happen. It's career collapse disguised as survival. They may continue as a group for a few years, then what? The capital and trust are gone.

 

It's not Newjeans admitting defeat, it's a total loss of identity, direction and respect. They will fade in relevance working for a company they hate and disappear once Hybe is done with them.

 

I understand Ador likely pressured the parents of the minor members who have no legal rights and little say in the situation, but that's basically the worst outcome, short term and long term.

I feel scared of a lot of what you're saying but at the end of the day, the girls were likely threatened and have no choice but to do this. These people are legit evil, and they fought hard. All I can do is support them

their fans know this and will support the girls and remember what HYBE did, just like us

it's been already 1,5 years since How Sweet, the girls are really young, sure, but it's not like the whole situation isn't affecting them. most of their partnerships are done, so the money could be a problem, the spirit among the fanbase wasn't the best after the result of lawsuit too. appeal would take another year, at best and who knows how that would turn out… HYBE won't be able to stop them when their contract will be over but at least they won't be gone from the public eye and maybe the mediaplay will calm down a bit in the upcoming months if both sides manage to colaborate somehow. I bet it wasn't and isn't easy for them… I'm just worried about the people surrounding them at HYBE, but I guess the girls already know how it looks like when it comes to lawsuit and evidence, that knowledge is on their side now. basically both sides need to be extra careful right now, coming back to Ador means a full-time game.

 

I started writing all of this in a good spirit but ended up feeling defeated.

NewJeans made a smart strategic decision by returning to ADOR for the time being, since their attempt to leave didn't work out. Instead of wasting time until 2029, they've chosen to focus on their careers and keep moving forward.

They're far too successful and influential for their careers to be put on hold. HYBE, on the other hand, is being extremely cautious now - basically walking on eggshells - because the public is closely watching how they will treat NewJeans from now on after all the controversy.

HYBE probably wants to repair its image and prove that it isn't a bad company, so they'll likely treat NewJeans as if everything is fine. If HYBE still doesn't treat them well, they know that girls will likely document everything and keep better receipts this time, and could take legal action in the future with stronger evidence.

Some of you put way too much faith in a broken system and crappy corporation run by evil old men. God bless. I don't consider myself a Kpop stan, I see it for what it is. They are going back into hell, the performances are going to suck big time, and it's going to be very hard to watch.

I know y'all are stans but them coming back to HYBE doesn't mean they were threatened or something, they simply took the best decision they could've possibly made given their circumstances and I'm glad they did. Despite personally feeling like they made terrible choice after another, I'm glad they'll be able to resume their career. It's obviously going to be rocky but that's a million times better than doing nothing till 2029 and getting sued for all they're worth for not fulfilling their contracts.
