The story is, it's Hyein's father who was against the lawsuit from the beginning, who had been working with Hybe all along in an attempt to sabotage Newjeans (leaked convos before + tried to trap Min Heejin with Davolink), who pulled some strings with Hybe right before the appeal deadline to block it, against Hyein's wishes, given she is a minor.

 

Then the other members had no choice but to align with the minor members for survival.

i dont know how the members are going to proceed, whether or not they have any power over the content they put out during the remaining term of their contracts (if they were forced to extend to make up for the lost time due the lawsuit as rumors suggest that would be sick) but it would have been legendary to just to experience life regularly, experience university, build up songwriting/design/production skills and come back in 3.5 years with complete autonomy over their art.

 

 

 

The next few years are going to be traumatic for them. Beside everything I said here, I'm not even sure the girls will have the heart to continue in the industry.

 

They gain nothing by going back now.

Legally, they should have waited until after MHJ shareholder case was decided, before making a decision.

Financially, they would have scoffed off most of the legal costs and penalties (near 0 after years of inactivity).

They could have easily waited it out, and come back later like you said mostly unscathed and full of life.

I agree it's better than Cherish but it's a bit too similar to Magnetic, so if they had released it as the lead single they'd be getting one trick pony allegations. So I get their decision

That part is never true. MHJ selected 5 girls from Source Music and formed a new group herself; and she's in charge of their overall identity, music and everything

 

And you said "more than her past groups". There's no "groups" here since NJ is the first one she ever created

wait so you're saying mhj couldn't build a strong bond with the other groups she worked on just because she wasn't as hands-on with them as she is with newjeans? she was heavily involved in concept and creative direction for years during her time at sm it's not like she was just watching from the sidelines

Why are you acting obtuse? MHJ didn't recruit or pick them 5 as trainees; but she handpicked them for this new group she birthed herself for her own company. Of course she would have a stronger and personal bond with them than with groups where she was just a Creative director

 

Just because they were under Source music doesn't mean they got to debut. Those 5 have never been in a lineup to debut together until Min Heehee picked them

you're missing the point love no one said mhj recruited them as trainees the argument is about how her bond with newjeans isn't magically deeper just because she had more control she's been instrumental in shaping other groups' identities too even without founding the company they debuted under acting like her emotional connection only exists when she was the ceo is reductive

and yes exactly they were under source music not ador so if they were never meant to debut together until mhj stepped in that proves how much she redirected their path it doesn't erase the fact that their origin was still under source not some blank slate she conjured from thin air
