No one sees the actors or singers though, it doesn't feel that korean, maybe that's why the GP is loving it.

Which is why it comes off as racist and is a major issue

yall are being weird about kpop demon hunters' success... it's a big budget animated netflix film

that gives it more exposure than the average kpop release

On the other side of the coin though, this is the first time a kpop single has taken off in the US without a gigantic push from an American label since Gangnam Style(Golden was not released as a single until last week, after it had already been doing huge numbers). It's also Teddy doing a shameless IVE knockoff. This is a genuine kpop breakthrough here even if it's mainly to children, it's proving the mainstream market viability of the kpop sound and aesthetic.

Netflix doesn't have power over music charts and Republic's other kpop acts(SKZ, Twice) have not ever come close to this type of success.

true but it's pretty genius really. 3 "genres" with a wide appeal combined together: kpop, asian media AND animated movies

you have the kpop fans on board, the anime nerds, the kdrama lovers and the disney/pixar/dreamworks audience (who are fed up with remakes and everything looking the same)

teddy recycling some of the most succesful songs that have already proven themselves is not very unique but it sure as hell works lol

looking at the amount of social media reactions, tiktoks, covers, fanfics etc and the spotify/netflix success I think it already has transcended a "kids movie".

It's very funny to me how the mood was that kpop is falling off but now we have aespa, twice, bp all at once, kpop demon hunters brainwashing a new generation of fans and leading kpop to a new peak in the west, katseye eyeing the first traditional radio/streaming hits without gigantic fandom push in the west, and BTS + Big Bang coming to do the Asian version of Eras + Ren tours happening at the same time next summer.

We're literally never going to stop finding new and bigger ways to terrorize american music fans :ryan3:

My god :rip:

i remember when they were calling it a fad during snsnd vs 2ne1 heydays

kPop will never be over

imagine getting d!ck'd down on all fours in his bed with BLACKPINK's vinyl discog adorning the walls around you and while he's slamming your skull with the BI-ping-bong lightstick every time you moan too loud

I cannot think of a better timeline

Who cares? He's going to flop tremendously

He's going to take up 20 spots on the global Spotify chart though, since every song on his album will most likely chart
