this I find quite interesting as well. her videos are very well known, referenced, songs are timeless and iconic but her audience doesn't seem to like YouTube. I'd like to know where her main streaming points come from.

we need a little madonner to explain this.

Well all the ones released pre-streaming era. Any smash hit released after ~2016 has at least 1 billion streams.

most things from the 60s to the 00s, one from each decade:

60s: the rolling stones - satisfaction (774m)

70s: abba - gimme! gimme! gimme! (858m)

80s: dolly parton - 9 to 5 (683m)

90s: whitney houston - i will always love you (747m)

00s: nelly furtado - maneater (786m)

10s: kesha - die young (764m)

20s: dua lipa - dance the night (982m)

devil woman, but lady gaga - applause is one of her best songs and deserve 3 billion streams

Gabby Barrett ft Charlie Puth - I Hope has surprisingly low streams for a song that peaked at #3

The remix has 98m streams

Britney's Spotify page surprised me,

Baby One More Time, Oops, Womanizer, Gimmie More, etc. all are like floating around 600M-800M streams.

It looks like only Toxic has 1B from her discography

The only pointed language I used was directly quoted from you. Seek help isn't an insult, it's a well-meaning suggestion in this case. :gaycat3:

thanks for the suggestion hun, i can see it didn't work out too well for you since you're still hyperventilating over messages on an online forum though. take care!

Obviously fits the category, but kind of still does not lol. Like it will reach 1 billion within 1.5+ years since release; that is pretty great. Not like it's "stuck" at that number or is pre-streaming era. I think About Damn Time is a more accurate example, older than 2.5 years and most would assume it has (over) a billion streams on Spotify.

(nothing against you, btw. Just quoting that to share my thoughts. Hope it makes sense :heart2:)

Wrecking Ball by Miley. Pre-streaming era so it took a while but it will hit 1B this year. It was the same with We Can't Stop, until it crossed 1B a few weeks ago.

This is pretty much a smash hit, I guess. It was one of the biggest hits from Argentina in 2021/22 and became one of the biggest hits of both artists' careers.

It just crossed 800M on Spotify a few days ago. The song will be 3 years old in April 2025. It wasn't really a major hit in North America or much within the Anglo Latin music-consumption world, so maybe that stopped it from being even bigger.

It was huge in Argentina, its neighboring countries, South/Latin America, and Central America territories. Has 1B+ streams on YouTube Music, so it did better there.

As said in the thread, many of the pre-streaming era ones have not reached 1B yet.

The newer ones that are currently smashing or were smashes last year/this year are not really subject to this thread, as they have already/just hit a billion or will in the near future.

We Don't Talk About Bruno (529M)

First Class  (857M)

About Damn Time (878M)

Break My Soul (463M)

Rich Men North of Richmond (256M :skull:)
