I mean, it's a super solid album and the singles were great! Did they drop the bag releasing random ep's and then the album out of nowhere to little promotion?! Justice for Mis Muchachas.

For me AGUILERA was a mixed bag, the songs in the OP being part of the better half of the album. The first EP was the strongest one imo.

 

Also yes, the 3 EP strategy was a buzz killer. Jessie J already tried it some years earlier and it was a massive bomb. But the sad part is that it's not even about charts, I just didn't enjoy this type of release as a fan. I'm yet to buy the album, that's how pissed off I've been with this whole thing.

No Es Que Te Extrañe is very underrated. The lyrics are so beautiful yet heartbreaking given its about her complicated relationship w her estranged father, esp these parts:

I'm afraid of looking for you and not finding you,
or finding you too late and no longer being able to love you.

....
It's not that I miss you,
it's just curiosity about knowing what you are doing

Xtina truly excels when it comes to delivering raw emotion tbh

It deserved what it got, especially after she scrapped Lloras Por Na for whatever unknown reason. 

I love it! And I think La Reina is still my personal favorite from the album. Not that I'm a fan of  (I'm brazilian btw, so I don't know nothing about rancheras lol, but it's very "sertanejo" too, which is the brazilian equivalent to american country music, with both being rural), but this song in particular is so beautiful and her voice is so strong and powerful! And the best part of this is: it's a 100% latin sound and not an obvious song for a pop artist. The way she was inspired by true latins songs and rhythms was so precious! It was not a surprise when AGUILERA was nominated for best Latin in the Grammys. She did that with this album, bringing quality and passion in a way that I didn't see happening in Liberation and Lotus (nonexistent in this case). I mean, you can see she had a lot of love involved here. Absolutely amazing!

It's a great album, in my opinion. I liked a lot of the songs on it.

 

The 3 EP rollout killed the album/era. She said that she would release them a few months apart and then with/after the third EP, they would come together and form the whole album. But there's no point in that rollout when it just makes it feel like you slapped a cover and name on a "compilation" of 3 EPs to make it be seen as an "album". I think it should have been 2 EPs and then the album with new material, or just a few singles and then the album.

 

First one was 'La Fuerza' (based on strength, womanhood, empowerment) and second was 'La Tormenta' (heartbreak, vulnerability, etc.). 

 

Then they released the album in May 2022 as a double disc (the two EPs) and said that the third EP would be released later and added to the album.  (just call it a deluxe at that point)

 

Then the third EP 'La Luz' was released in September 2022, it was not even an EP, just a double single format. The only "main" song on it was 'No Es Que Te Extrañe' and a short "intro" song before it. Basically it was just one song, mainly. 

 

And then they reissued it on streaming as a triple disc.

IIRC they also changed the cover after announcing the album. The messy rollout killed this great album.

It was mediocre at best—a trend-hopping collection of songs that didn't do anything memorable except its messy roll-out. Having said that, she was better off releasing stand-alone collaborations if she wanted to try her chances in Spanish-speaking countries.

I will say yes. I have to re-listen myself, considering the last time I played the album in full again was a couple of months ago.

 

However, it is a very good album, there are many great songs on it and I also believe it is a very cohesive and mature sounding record. Her vocals are usually clear and she's sounding the best she has ever sounded in years. To summarize it all, AGUILERA as a record overall, is very underrated, but incredibly good. I hope some of the tracks will find their ways on Tik Tok Latin America, they deserve to go viral and be heard as they are too good to go unnoticed by the general public. 

 

This thread and post actually gave me the inspiration and motivation to finally dip into AGUILERA again and listen to it, from start to finish. As I go on my walk to the park and enjoy the last autumn sunshine we are currently experiencing here in this city, with the temperatures being cozy and warm.
