Overproduced Pop Songs?

Featured Replies

Overproduced songs are songs too overly layered, excessive audio effects or instruments....
Too much is goin on and they can be real noisy or chaotic  :giraffe:
To me these ones are very overproduced even if i love them :gaycat4:

Yall are going to hate this but some Beyonce songs she could do with a few less vocal layers and some more raw imperfect production

the whole album

That was kinda the point lol. "Overproduction" (as understood by noisy instrumentals, layered vocals, extra synths) is literally Gaga's sound.

Born This Way is overcooked. In some parts a lot of things are going on at once.

Xtina's Accelerate is what you hear when you play 2 unrelated songs at the same time :rip:

Whatever will.i.am was doing to Britney's discography.

the whole album

and it was done in the best way.

How is Accelerate overproduced when its instrumental is pretty minimal? :rip:the fact that it changes throughout is a completely different thing

Overproduction is the one in Highway Unicorn by Gaga, in my opinion. Which can work, I love the song

a lot of early 2010s music is like that. born this way is particularly horrendous in that regard, but to me florence's ceremonials is the worst ofender.

To me overproduced is when the producer and artist achieve POP PERFECTION, and instead of sending it off to the engineers, they keep tweaking it and ******* with it to the point that it becomes too much and it starts making the song worse off. Example: SEXXX DREAMS, here's the pop perfection version:

And now the overproduced CD version (which we still stan, but it's not as good):

the compression was set to max ans the amount of reverb put over the lead vocals and vocal layering. pretty sure this is done with intention though as there is no line in this song that doesn't either have some choppy vocal sample, heavy reverb, call or response or some type of mixture of those.
