Charli XCX has been making (small) waves (for a short amount) in a corner of music industry, with many (only gays) calling her a "brat pop" pioneer.
But is the (alleged) success being attributed to her, truly justified?

WHERE are the top 5s? WHERE are the top 10s? WHERE are the platinum records, gold records? 
Minus the traction she got through Lorde and (mostly) Billie and Brat is just hype.

Gays keep praising Charli XCX as a the iT girl of 2024, but let's be real, where are the TANGIBLE results?

It's obviously a huge success for her. That being said some people here were definitely reaching calling it the most relevant album of the year, calling Charli the biggest it girl of 2024, etc 

BRAT is the biggest album of the year despite how it doesn't have a bunch of Hot 100 hits or isn't selling like hotcakes. Literally everyone knows "Brat Summer" and has heard Apple.

Guess was top ten in several countries 

 

and theirs no plaques because nothings been certified yet outside of the uk where she's on her way to platinum both with hits and album success  

The album cover is more popular than the music.

NOW....... I do have to admit that the straights have gotten a little brave with their appropriation of brat and Charli. Brands with their brat marketing too. Yuck.

It's undeniably big, not as earth shattering as some pretended a few weeks ago, but definitely big.

Hype. Just gays trying to be "cool".

Overhyped, I still force myself to like it because for a change I want to be in zeitgeist but I just don't see appeal. Lyrics are cringe and not worth the praise she gets, voice annoying, songs too short to be songs...

 

It's definitely a movement.

It's the first album in a long time where I love every single track. It deserves the hype for me.

Both.

 

It's successful for her standards and an unexpected breakthrough.

But also overhyped because the numbers don't match the amount of hype at all.
