Why did ATRL lie about Taylor blocking Chappell?

Featured Replies

First update : Taylor 75k Chapelle 70k

last update : Taylor 84k Chapelle 70k

So basically @KatyPrismSpirit lied and made fake narrative to hate on Taylor

Can I ask why?

Why did she do it?

But she was anyways ahead right?

Did Chapelle increase? No

So why was that thread made.

Make it make sense.

Extending lead is not same as blocking. Stop fooling around

Personally, I think whether or not she "needed" to do it has little-to-no impact on how people perceive her doing it.

It's still not a good look. If anything, it's harming her brand image for something that was, ultimately, completely unnecessary.

Y'all are out of your minds if you think these random voice notes that only the most hardcore of hardcore stans will ever hear somehow made all the difference

Yeah. When people look back on 2024, people would remember HOT TO GO / Good Luck, Babe, the internet impact of brat summer, the longevity of Birds of a Feather. If people would remember TTPD, it's not because of something positive.

And yet if it was the other way around we wouldn't hear the end of it how someone was #1 for weeks and weeks. :michael:

@KatyPrismSpirit is my sister in Christ who was killed by a meta train. And it this post is very disrespectful. Idk who you are or if you even know her but I need you to take this down please. :suburban:

Peter, Robin, How Did It End, Chloe and Company, are non-events to you? :biblio:

Because Taylor's team couldn't know how much Chappell would sell between prediction and final number, they didn't start selling extra edition just for the fun of it

That's interesting. Did she tell you that herself?

And how exactly do you determine that it's a non-event? It's quite literally the most streamed and the best-selling album of the year, and it's being performed for hundreds of thousands every weekend on the biggest tour of all time. Elaborate how it's a non-event would you! I'm sure your explanation will be full of logic and facts and not personal feelings and vibes.

This. Although it's very possible this is her label pushing for this ("we should do another, the fans are loving it!") because it's, no shade, so easy to sell these and make tens of thousands of extra $

Yeah, I often think that too. Also…I feel like she's got enough on her plate?

Between crisis talks with national security teams, 6 shows in one of the world's biggest cities, rehearsals, maintaining her friendships, her relationship with Travis, processing everything that's happening through songwriting, and more, it's entirely possible that she doesn't have the time to sit down at an executive table and go, "Chappell is approaching #1?!…release the hounds 😈"

That being said, her team should be aware of the backlash, and they should be taking the effect it's having on her brand image into account.

So she didn't have to pull more chart manipulating shenanigans but she did. Why?

Did she want to make sure another younger, more talented female artist didn't also get her flowers?

girl nawt Chapelle

my point still stands. Tay only debuted those variants because she had to be sure she got the #1 with a wider margin as a 5k gap was too risky for her. That the variants weren't necessary to block Chappell isn't even relevant.

the point of the thread was moreso about the fact that Taylor had to resort to DEbuting variantS again to increase the numbers in an inorganic way to make sure she keePs thE numbeR one Album aT Every cost.

and yes, CHAPPELL's album did see significant streaming gains throughout the rest of the week which is still true. She had the #1 album on almost every format in the US (Spotify & iTunes), that it didn't translate in her HDD numbers is odd but doesn't take away that her album was performing better on basically every platform in the US than TTPD.

HDD did have the rise in mind when making the prediction, her numbers being exponentially bigger each week for the past month makes it easier to guess.

Yes she's higher in both streaming services, but Apple Music's is likely Taylor getting more streams as the standard and Anthology are charting separately, and the Spotify gap is not enough to close the gap they get from casual physical sales (Chappell's vinyl retailing for up to $60-70 on most variants does not help).
