I like both WW and Lifetimes, but the one complaint (other than the stupid label) is that Katy releasing WW at 39, is like Madonna releasing Give Me All Ur Lovin instead of Frozen at age 39.  I think GMAYL is super catchy, but not what she needed to advance her career. Same with Katy and these singles. Super catchy, but don't change things.

Girl at this rate I don't know if there's going to be a 'next' album. This could be it for her. 
 

The last of you really need to get in your head that Katy is not the victim here, certainly not of misogyny anyway. If anything she is a perpetrator of misogyny by continuing to give that horrible man a platform, space and notoriety in the industry. She deserves all the lashings she's been getting.

If people are holding women to a higher standard than they hold men, then yes that is misogyny.

Who says anything about holding women to a higher standard? Anyone, male or female that gives that man notoriety is trash, it just happens to look even worse when it's another WOMAN because you would think another WOMAN would want other women in the industry to feel and be safe.

And it's been explained over and over again why Katy choosing to work with Luke is a lot more controversial than some other female stars, given her proximity to kesha and the fact they were friends in the industry for many years.

So… this was supposed to make up for WW and is performing exactly how anyone with a pulse expected. I still firmly believe she should move on from this era quietly and act like it never happened. If she continues to push forward and release the album, an opening of 25k pure and a #15 debut will continue to be disastrous and erode the legacy she could have left behind. I understand she probably can't do that, but my goodness it's just going to get worse.

This is cute! Definitely better than WW but then again the bar is in hell. It's just so hard to believe this is the same woman who was releasing hit after hit with Teenage Dream and Prism.

She should have milked the Prism era more. Hell Teenage Dream could have kept going. Lol I bet she wishes she did too. I wonder if she was always planning to have the gap she did between Prism and Witness.

As much as I would've loved to see Dressin' Up, Hummingbird Heartbeat, and Pearl released as singles (and Not Like The Movies get the full single treatment) I think that era went as flawlessly as possible. And WHEW what an album. Definitely her magnum opus. But yeah, she dropped the ball with Prism lol. It was disaster after disaster with that one.

Shes doing fine for her circumstances, but damn Capitol really is the pits. They couldn't secure a TTH placements for even ONE song?  Even some random khias are getting high placements on that playlist for multiple weeks.

I don't think it's that easy. TTH has curators, it's not like radio or Apple Music where you can just pay for a deal. And Katy has had a very linear decline with TTH. NRO debuted at #1. It did well so Small Talk also debuted at #1 but after it flopped, Harleys paid the price and debuted around #15. 365 debuted lower, Daisies debuted lower and so on. Her stock fell with every underperforming single.

 

At this point, it's more important that Lifetimes stays afloat throughout the week, with whatever exposure it does have. Otherwise, a potential TTH add won't save it. Just like it didn't save Illusion. If people say no, it remains a no regardless of TTH.

I think this is the correct take. Spotify is going to invest in what listeners want. If Lifetimes stays afloat maybe it can get added and grow a little. It won't be a huge smash but maybe something little.

I don't want to get in this whole discussion about Luke, I've never done and I won't do it, because I think it's right this way. But I just have to say that we actually don't know nothing about what has been goin on between Katy and Kesha behind the scene. So calling out Katy referring to their friendship seems a bit superficial. 

 

And again, this thread isn't on this subject anyway. Let's stay on topic.

Suddenly this clicked for me. Also thanks to the video. Gave me a lot of nostalgic summer vibes and Ibiza memories. At least a lot more fun and current than WW.
