It's only carrying on so long because Katy isn't commenting on it.  

At this point, I don't think things can get worse for her - it's already pretty bad so she may as well explain the reason she went back to try and put an end to the speculation. That way, it would at least be put to bed. But she'd never do that so the speculation is going to continue. 
 

I do wish she'd address it in an interview. I want her to understand why people are upset and annoyed at her. I used to be a high Katy fan - I bought every album, every single, seen her on tour, streamed her endlessly - but seeing her go back to an alleged rapist for a hit is incredibly disappointing as someone who has experienced SA myself. I will still listen to the album but I'm struggling with her reasoning for these strange decisions.

Katy doesn't have to comment on it. She already said she believes in innocent until proven otherwise, she also didn't call Kesha her friend in 7 years. She clearly doesn't care.

It's giving promotional dance single for the gays and that's it.

 

I think Gimme Gimme f/ 21 Savage will be the actual 2nd radio single

Well consideirng it's ruined her reputation, I think she probably should try and do some damage control in some way. 
 

I just don't understand how some fans can just ignore the fact she's working with an alleged abuser. I am a fan but will hold her accountable. Also, there are multiple artists who have stories about Luke - Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Doja Cat, Bebe Rexha. He has a history.

 

Anyway, Lifetimes is a fine, fun bop and probably should have been the first single. Has it been sent to US radio or are we expecting it not to chart in the US at all?

i dont think they're planning on doing anything with it, radio push will probably will be for another song tbh

Might be for the best if it's a Europe centred single then and then they push whatever the third single is in the US.

 

I do wonder if there'll be remixes released soon. I think they could really elevate the song

But I feel so sorry for everyone who actively sh**s on the song and tries to make others feel bad about liking it! I'm especially baffled by all the comments saying the song is "soulless"... Well that's YOUR opinion. To me the song has such a positive, immaculate energy of love and joy!

I'm out here keeping this bop on repeat all day long, feeling great, dancing and hopping around and singing along - why should I, or anyone for that matter, care about a rando on the Internet saying that the song is bad, dated, cringy, or a flop?

 

I think it's incredibly sad that nowadays music is used as a tool for division rather than connection. I don't understand why our enjoyment of music should be validated by chart performance or a social group's consensus, and seeing this become normalized is very worrying.

unfortunatelly, when someone is down, people will kick them for fun (and to express their hate). People are mean and are always waiting for a vulnerable moment to attack with all the hate they accumulated by the years. They don't want to give them any chance, even if they release a strong single or a fantastic album, cause it's "better" to see someone down. Stan culture is rotten and disgusting.

For me, it's obvious that, when Xtina gonna start a new era and release a new song, people here will (re)start the hate threads daily, talking about things from 30 years ago lmao, and a festival of bad comments in every official thread, which will be the official free defamation of her career and persona space. The idea is to spread hate and show how she is hated by everyone. Who's gonna give a chamce for someone who is always painted as an envy, evil and nasty diva? I mean, it's not a problem at all to dislike Xtina, since no one is obligated to like her, but some people forces a lot of hate on her just because they prefer Britney or Gaga, who are her "enemies" lmao. It's really pathetic, because we are able to like all of them without taking off our faves from our personal thrones lol. And I know that some of Xtina's stans are nasty too, but there is a difference, since Xtina doesn't have any big supporter from the moderators, so it's just something normal and acceptable to hate her, while the same do not apply to other pop girls.

with Katy, things started to be like that too, since Witness. Obviously, the Dr. Lucky episode was a meteor crash on her career too. And with all the world wanting to hate he now (Woma's World was trully a BIG mistake), it's gonna be really difficult to change it. But I wish all the lucky for her and I want to see a great album being released. I will always support all the pop girls (except some lol), so let's stream Lifetime, which is a banger! I truly hope that people will slowly start to give her a new chance
