Where are new big artists ?

Featured Replies

I feel like Justin Bieber, Ariana and Nicki are the last big artists that the music world has seen?

And all of them debuted 2009-2011?

Where are some new big artists? Or do I miss someone who came after and should be considered as big star?
Does Gen Z have any big stars?

Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa etc.

Only Olivia is new out of these. Dua and Billie have been in the industry for almost a decade.

I feel like the last big Artist was like 2-3 years ago with Olivia. The girlies making hits today are categorized as TikTok artist.

New and young Artists these days don't do things quite the same like the previous worldwide phenomenons in music.

It's giving very instant and forced tbh.

You won't get to see a new lady gaga or Justin bieber. The world's ways have changed.

Nothing is new, shocking or impressive anymore.

New artists probably don’t feel as big because there isn’t much of a centralized pop culture anymore and we’re getting older.

idk but every month a new khia k-pop act scores a #1 on the album chart :sistrens:

People said this same **** before Lady Gaga and Bieber came around. You’re just old and no longer a part of pop’s main demographic, sis.

That’s because K-pop artists are the only ones putting in work. Why would I skip a group that can sing and dance and take risks with excellent pop music to listen to a Western artist who mumbles, can barely sing and can’t dance?

excellent pop music is a stretch

also Tate McRae and Noah Kahan are right there, Sabrina doesn't count because she's an elder to me at this point

The obvious answers are already mentioned in the thread. Also Noah Kahan is most probably coming to join the Gen Z superstars list if his next album is successful too :foxaylove2:

Like others said, there are still big artists, I think oftentimes you don’t realize how present an artist is until hindsight. Also, even 10-20 years ago, there are only ever so many truly huge superstars. It’s not a perfect example but look at BNA at the Grammys, even in the early 00s, some years you had Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears competing who are still known today, and others you had Shelby Lynn (2001 BNA winner), it ebbs and flows.

social media killed the mystique of all pop stars.
