What? Katy Perry's career was practically a non-stop growing curve for 6 straight years, capped off by a record-breaking Superbowl performance in the 7th year

Everyone declines eventually. Sadly it’s the cycle of a pop girl

doubling down on the home wrecking allegations probably didn’t help

(in the same way katy going full “woke” white soccer mom also didn’t help)

Ironically, CTTR promo was very U.S. located.

CTTR really did good in Europe, barely decreasing or even repeaking. Ariana’s lead is doing poorly but she’ll bounce back.

Risky how? :rip:

A tropical chain smokers 3 minute made for streaming radio song with a rapper on for good measure. It was a hit in Europe because it appealed more to straights.

Yes and? Was base driven and appealed more to homos. It’s more like BMS/SL

CTTR definitely feels much bigger.  If Yes, and? fails to reach the Top 10 on Pop, then for sure it's weaker.

CTTR's stats aren't that terrible:  556,293,935   +152,915

for being basically a pre-streaming era song, over 500M isn't bad at all, imo.  It's currently doing better than Never Really Over.

2017 was the streaming era just the beginning of it though. Pre-streaming would be before 2015 I guess. 556m isn’t really good for a top 10 global hit. Its recurrent streams are pretty bad too. But it was definitely a hit just a bit frontloaded.

Yes and is doing tragic for a Ariana single. It’s probably her best song peak wise but its longevity is tragic. I’m also surprised at the chart run in Italy. Why doesn’t her home country stan her? Madonna is untouchable there while Gaga does great there too.

2017 is not pre streaming era.

Billboard started counting streams from almost every platform in 2013.

And it's not even 3X Platinum eligible in the US after 7 years so the Apple Music streams have to be in the pits since vast majority of those Spotify streams were scattered outside the US + it had a decent amount of US digital sales(600k).

CTTR did actually good in Europe :clap3:

Its success there is overrated. Still not 2X Platinum in the UK after all this time.

It's top certifications there is 2X Platinum in Italy & Norway.

hit making days were not gonna last forever and she and nobody is immune to flopping. Shocked people thought Ariana would be an exception

It's not that her hit making days are over. It's just that YA isn't the sound that the GP knows and enjoys from Ariana so it's quite alienating. One single underperforming doesn't automatically mean someone is over as a hitmaker.

Her blonde eyebrows are her analog to Katy's pixie cut on top of it.

anyways, hope YA holds on.

Yet it’s chart run is slightly better than YA?’s so far, wow

y,a? is gonna move more units than CTTR by the end of 2025, if not before :rip:

Let’s see if the lead of KP6 matches the AG6 lead aka positions, I’m sure all the people here dragging Ariana will tune in after all, right? :celestial5:

CTTR did quite well but y'all are so used to calling everything from that era a flop that act like it bombed.

Hate to play the devil's advocate but 2X Platinum in the UK is equivalent to like 6X platinum in the US, it's a much bigger feat that's why it's harder for songs to go multi-platinum status there and why they have a silver certification too.

With that being said, the song sales market was still insane in the UK back in 2017 and multi-platinum status was almost expected for all big hits. CTTR still not being multi-platinum shows it did not have a lot of legs.

YA already OUT from Top 20 after 4 weeks. :chick2:
Not YA looks like a flop compared to a mega flop CTTR :rip:
