Just listened to this and boy, what a great album.

 

Eye of the Night sounds like a Bon Jovi song.

 

I knew I wasn't into him, except for Lonely Dancers that sounds really good !

So I tried the album, and I think I'm not the target lol

This album has no skips for me. Fainted Love and Miss You are the highlights, along with all of the pre-release singles. 

 

His voice was wasted on those whisper pop songs. His range is incredible, and he commits to and nails the 80s pastiche so well. The vocal layering is perfect.

 

It's a shame that this will underperform. He's admittedly wayyy too late to the game with the 80s nostalgia-core, but he and his cowriters/producers executed it better than almost everyone else that tried it imo. I really hope the commercial underperformance doesn't discourage him from working with Max and Co again bc they made some magic here

Maybe the album wasn't done but this should have been out last summer.. the timing is so random and Never Ending Song should have been pushed. I'm also shocked we haven't gotten an Olviia Rodrigo collab..? That could have really helped the album perform better. A lot of wasted time and potential here

Finally listened and it's definitely a downgrade from the excellent Superache. I can appreciate what he tried to do with this sound but it felt undercooked. He should call up Dan N again for the next one.

Love Fainted Love. Him and Allie X did 80s perfectly.

It's decent, given how there basically was no hype for this album. But it is his lowest first week sales, and first album to miss the top 10. 
 

1st album did almost 50k at #5.

2nd album did 43k at #9

Italian radios are SPAMMING Lonely Dancers for no apparent reason, the song is N/A everywhere here, I had to send an e-mail to the major radio we use in the office with my colleague because we were sick of it and its fake ass British accent
