Walk with me… Unapologetic marks Rihanna’s highest debut week in the U.S with 238,000+ copies sold. The supporting tour is arguably Rihanna’s most successful thus far. The era spanned 3 top 20 singles and features (unofficially) one of Rihanna’s best songs “Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary”. 
 

Converseley, ANTi went from selling 460 copies  first week after a botched rollout and went on to become one of the most streamed albums of all time. The album features 3 top 10 hits with the 9 week #1 Work (Rihanna’s longest #1 after We Found Love). The albums supporting tour, while a moderate success, provided audiences with a more polished and committed stage performer in Miss Fenty. 
 

Part of me thinks, that while ANTI is a timeless masterpiece, is it truly Rihanna’s best album? Or has the thirst for new Rihanna music made some of us biased towards her last full musical output?

Unapologetic stomps on OverrATI in 2023 for me.

Despite ANTI's obvious qualities, I think Unapologetic is a better album. 

 

I mean, No Love Allowed is probably the best song of her career. Then you add songs like Get It Over With, LWT/MM, LIP, Pour It Up, Diamonds, Stay, Jump, hell even POTR and HOM... It's really good and my favorite Rihanna album. 

 

Remove the clunkers (Right Now, Numb and What Now) and it's an excellent album.

Anti might be my least favorite Rihanna album. Unapologetic is much better.

Oh plz, you post LOUD stans are delusional. Good Girl Gone Bad is clearly her best, with the most hits, her best selling album,  the most hits that stand the test of time, and her best album tracks are also on this album.

Unapologetic is undoubtedly one of her weakest albums but it has Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary, No Love Allowed and Lost in Paradise so it automatically washes Anti

I really did love Unapologetic when it came out - but it has not aged well for me at all. It has way too many EDM breaks. TTT did EDM in a much more cohesive way that still hits today. But I do think that Stay is one of her best singles of all time and really carries the album along with a few other non-single cuts.

ANTI is her #1, Unapologetic #2, and then Rated R #3.

 

Those three are all excellence and very close for me though! 

some extra thoughts:

 

Unapologetic has Lost In Paradise and that alone should’ve won it AOTY…. 
 

numb is one of Rihanna’s best songs ever… 

 

and “right now” while thematically a bit misplaced… is still a banger

Both better than Talk That Talk, that's for sure

ANTI is the better one of the two. But her fave album overall for me is Loud or Good Girls Gone Bad.

ANTI is hella overrated, probably because it's her last album before she turned into an avon lady. Unapologetic wins this one.

i prefer ANTI theres more solid tracks i enjoy.
