I wanted to see ATRL's hot takes so I made this thread.

 

 

1. The idea that you have to follow an artist because your fav is linked to them is weird. Like, I am a Swiftie, and I have every reason not to like Selena Gomez ✌🏾.

 

2. The "If Aaliyah didn't die, Beyoncé wouldn't be successful" and "If Selena didn't die, JLO wouldn't be successful" takes are not only disrespectful to Beyoncé and JLO but also to Aaliyah and Selena themselves. Deceased people are more than their deaths.

 

3. I see so much hypocrisy, to be honest. The same people who will chastise gaylors for speculating on Taylor Swift's sexuality have no problem assuming that Shawn Mendes is gay for bending his back.

Jesy Nelson was wrongly villainized. Her story on self image issues is something many of yall figs can relate to personally. I dont care, downvote me

Aaliyah wouldn’t been big in music. She wasn’t that big before her death. Can see her ending up like Mya  musically but she would  been big in film. 
 

bey was already bigger than Aaliyah in dc. She would’ve had the same career. Now CIARA wouldn’t had a career though. 
 

jlo would’ve had a career. She was already acting before and after Selena. She still would dated diddy and he would’ve help her music career

I'm not sure you can put "Jesy Nelson was wrongly villainized" and "not mentioning her questionable tan" in the same sentence bc that is primarily why she was villainized

Also Boyz is a better song than the solo songs of Leigh Anne and the leaked demos of Leigh Anne and jade and the last songs LM released after she left

It makes sense why she was doing it because she hates the way she looks so much. Also the fact that she was bullied for looking the way she naturally looked so I can see why she would do it

Yup. I felt bad for her, she got too much hate.

The Lady Gaga popularity mental gymnastics have always been funny to me. Monsters can't accept that she isn't the top dog and everybody else starts convulsing when you point out that she's still towards the top of the a-list.

Gaga would currently be rivaling Taylor Swift instead of Katy Perry if every album post TFM was as good as ASIB.

SZA is a better songwriter than Taylor Swift.

The UK media loves to have someone (usually a woman) to bash and unfortunately she made it easy for them. It's honestly wild when you look back at the number of mainstream outlets that were writing about Jesy and her drama with Little Mix. For someone who's not really known outside of the UK, it was wild to see the number of people online who had something to say about her.

 

I don't particularly like her and some of the criticism was justified but it went way too far.

keep saying that Billie and Dua are "new" artists is completely wrong, when both have been successful for +5 years and both are breaking records / smashing the GLOBAL charts for +5 years.

We don't care if your aunt from Kentucky doesn't know them

I mean, that’s kind of your faves fault? She’s the one who came at Gaylors, and made it into a feminist issue or w/e, as she always does.  That being said, I think Taylor is extremely overrated but I understand the mania I guess. White women adore her, especially younger ones, and she’s a totally family friendly artist that everyone can enjoy.

H.E.R. is better songwriter than SZA, Taylor Swift and Lana
