Do you use TikTok?

I embrace TikTok for what it is and how people are communicating on there mostly to maintain pop/mainstream culture literacy but I don't support the app and I think it's insidious. Most social media apps are but TikTok feels like a different breed. I created an account once, but never used it more than a minute or two so I just ended up deleting it. There's been some funny and interesting content that's came from the app but I don't feel comfortable being an active user of the platform. I'm in my early 20s but I'm totally fine sitting this one out.

What about you guys?

Personally I’m not a fan of TikTok.

Kudos to the artists/influencers who made a career from it, but I dislike the concept of doing weird challenges for a few seconds to get 5 mins of fame going viral looking dumb worldwide. I’m more of a text, video, pic poster I rather use other platforms.

I deleted it/my account a few weeks ago. It's honestly just not fun anymore. It used to be funny videos and dancing trends, but now it's so full with politics and drama/cancel culture that you just end up feeling worse/doom scrolling.

It really peaked just before the panini/during.

I'm too old for TikTok

More and more older people are using the app, it is not exclusively for young people.

OT: No

i am 19 and barely use it but it blew up when i just turned 16 so its not like its been ingrained to my self within the core years of my teenhood like it is for younger zoomers

I’m in my 30s and use tiktok. People on Twitter and Instagram are so miserable I can’t handle it

not really. maybe I open the app once in a blue moon

Yeah, it's a bop. It gives me the feeling of getting hammered without actually getting hammered.

No, it never caught my interest. I have to admit, though, it makes me wonder why Vine didn't takeoff in the same way. They do practically the same thing.

I use it to find if a song goes viral and what trend makes it viral.

I refuse to download it. Would be terrible for my attention span and I think the app has done way more harm to the world than good.

MTE.

never even downloaded let alone made an account on the app. seemed like it would be full of cringe and turn into a time suck.

I even deactivated my twitter a few weeks ago, feels great lol. I'm on instagram for friends and YouTube for other content (I prefer long form—video essays, commentary, live music).
