CB2: What's going on?

Featured Replies

In light of recent X.com outbursts I thought it was a good time to ask where the hell Cardi B's sophomore album is? She had an insane debut album with enormous success that seemingly the entire entertainment industry gave their stamp of approval.

Fast forward 5 years...she has released an endless string of one-off singles, some that were either very catchy or successful in their own right (Money, Press, Up) but the sophomore album plans never materialized off of any of those singles, yet.

Is it label issues: they don't believe in her, don't like the material, purposefully shelving her? Or is Cardi simply not ready to release it, not satisfied with the material she has, or has some other strategy in mind?

To put things in perspective: Bad Bunny debuted around the same time as Cardi, and has gone on to release 3 additional albums.

For such a successful debut there should have been no legitimate struggle getting a second album out there, let alone waiting half a decade at this point. What's the hold up?

It’s already platinum with a diamond certified lead single, a 3x platinum follow up (and a cute lil Gold single ). :clap3:First rapper in history to have multiple #1s off multiple albums. Now catch it like a red light :clap3:

Girl, just answer the question: Why is the release of her sophomore album delayed indefinitely?

It was never delayed because she only had a one off deal. You don’t think multi level Atlantic wouldn’t force a quick IOP 2.0 Especially when WAP broke every global record? Don’t you think they would force her like labels do to make a quick buck? Think :rip:

I wholeheartedly think you should tweet her and ask her..

So you mean she was only required to release one album? But even after the success of IOP, why would that still be the case? The album spawned multiple smash hits so a second album would have been profitable and she's proven to be something of a hitmaker post-IOP too. I just don't understand why the label would do her like that?

her debut album was a massive success and she had a baby. she's set for life, there's no rush

She shelved it because it sucked probably

Wasn’t her debut the most acclaimed female rap album since Missy Under Construction? And the most successful since Lauryn Hills Miseducation ? :rip:

She didn’t want it long term. It’s obvious lol she could’ve dropped 2 more safe IOP style albums and cemented herself as the biggest female artist after Taylor but she’s too real for this political music ****. She knows she’s always in demand for features and big live gigs, throw in two deals a year and she’s a millionaire for life. Why fix what’s not broken?

a pandemic and lots of personal issues happened

now the label's probably pressuring her for another hit before they greenlight an album and unfortunately years have gone by, the hype is gone, and the writers/producers aren't sending premade hits to someone they don't know will actually carry it on the charts. hopefully the offset collab/cheating gimmick works for her!

I mean that makes sense, she got pregnant right after the album release, IIRC. Still, what's the point of continuing to release solo one-offs and keeping the beef with Nicki alive then?

Plus, hasn't she told her fans that an album was coming or in the works multiple times, as recently as this past month?

Not a Barb mentioning acclaim :skull: honey stick to the Guetta and Redone dance beats you’re used to my love. You can easily go on Metacritic and RIAA to get your answers. How many more minutes on your lunch break? Shouldn’t take that long. :lmao:

Lets be real she fumbled after WAP.

She should’ve capitalized & dropped the album shortly after. The sloppy and sporadic drops since lets me know she scared (to follow up after a strong debut album) OR her machine isn’t as strong as mfs claim to be – the stress results in her dragging her fans on social media; the same fans who been riding this successful debut wave for 5 years now.

Yet this is your SECOND response.m to me though nephew. Looks like the plastic filled ass, panned albums and clown wigs are calling from inside the house? It’s not 2018 anymore let that hurt go. :rip:

If she said it wasn’t coming two years ago she’s lose her fan base…why kill the wonder and mystery if it’s fueling every other aspect of your career? She used her 15 minutes and turned them into 15 hours. A reverse RAPholian experience.

Exactly, how can a song even be a single off an album if it was released three-four years before the album :rip::ahh:
