First off, the lazy song sampling is out of control at the moment as everyone is hopping on the trend. Nicki seems to get a ton of hate for it (if not more than others) yet she's consistently jumped on beats throughout her entire career!

I don’t think the sampling itself (or by itself) is the issue. But my issue is that in Super Freaky Girl and Red Ruby it feels like the sample is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

 

I still use Red Ruby though.

She's the Queen of rap not the Queen of beats. Are her raps original? Yes. Is it common for rappers to sample? Yes. I don't see the problem.

 

To OP, are you sure Nicki is getting hated on for sampling or is this an ATRL thing?

    How many songs has Jay sampled? Biggie? Ya’ll said she would never have a number one or any more hits and was over, but now that she has, the goalpost shifts. Mind you, WAP, Bodak Yellow, and I Like It, all feature samples, but I never hear these arguments about the Duchess of Face Fillers.

    She has the most front loaded #1s in music history, who cares? The biggest problem is that it's not a sample, it's the whole instrumental from a past smash hit just with her awful lyrics  :mazen:
