Featured Replies

Im a stan and I cant believe her album tanked so hard :gaycat6: Like how do you go from having one of the biggest hits of the millenium to your album underperforming and she didnt even get a 2nd hit off of it :deadbanana2:

Why did ESV and River perform so bad??

The album just wasn't all that great imo... I absolutely love Miley but this was probably my least favorite project of hers overall and I rarely revisit it

You can have three quick hits from one album or the only one biggest female hit on album since "My Heart Will Go On".

nothing since she went from a flop album- flop ep- album with a cute moderate hit to an album with the hit of the year. Seems an improvement.

River was a terrible single choice and even worse as a follow-up to Flowers. Jaded could've been a hit if it had been launched with the album

My question is: where is she? The last time I saw her was that fashion show or something.

Ngl the Spotify promo has been chef kiss though, every time my playlist ends I get either Jaded, Angels Like You or the other ESV song that I don't remember, although I have never listened to Flowers.

Anyways, she doesn't have hardcore fans, she's a known name and people do like her casually but I don't think that many people follow her like that.

River did perform abysmally. Like yeah, Flowers totally overshadowed it but damn, it did nothing. Not even a good first week based off Flowers hype + album release impact.

Jaded will be a cute hit for her. I feel it.

Edit: also she's almost disappeared from the media. Is her mental health good? Maybe there's something we don't know going on behind the scenes.

She’s just had the biggest hit of here career after being counted out serval times before that so I would have to say nothing. :clap3:

Endless Summer Vacation didn’t match Flowers success, maybe because the album didn’t really follow a cohesive sound or flow, but I bopped.

Rose Colored Lenses wasn’t released as a single yet :clap3:

It’s an end-of-summer beginning-of-fall SMASH waiting to happen :jonny5:

Miley is so inconsistent. She alienates her fanbase every album cycle. It’s only so many times you can say “this is the real me!” before people stop giving a **** altogether. She’s a quick lil singles girl.

It's very sad. It's as if the huge success of Flower had been for nothing.

This era demonstrated her commercial fragility. Even with big lead single, it's name does not bring a huge plus.

I really liked the album so I’m not sure :dancehall3: it is far more versatile than alot of the monotone pop albums that the girls adore

I’d like to believe that Flowers cannibalized the era

River is actually the single good song on the album (excluding Flowers). Idk why the GP didn't take to it.

But the rest of the album is just simply boring. I found the entire thing so disappointing. And it's even more of a shame because I really enjoyed Plastic Hearts. After years of sabotaging her own career (DP & YN), she was finally doing something right & now we're back to square one.

At this point she should just announce a greatest hits arena tour, she's got fans all over the world, so people will attend.

This thread is made every week. Nothing went wrong she improved on her last album.

I feel like Miley's the type of artist to be inspired by something so hard she creates so much magic for one thing, but fails to be consistent about it leading to terrible bodies of work. Her lead singles are almost always created with much inspiration and gusto, the supporting body of work, not so much.

She's kinda a manic virtuoso who makes amazing art at first then very quickly loses inspiration, its kinda sad.

As much as things went wrong, things also went right. The single was so huge, it overshadowed the era. I think she's inconsistent in terms of success. Her work ethic is also inconsistent, as she was doing more promotion during her hiatus than her main era. Her single choices are questionable, besides lead single, bc River is a terrible choice.

Also, clearly the album had worse reception than I received it (it's my fav album by her). Plastic Hearts will remain her most successful and appreciated album of recent.

as much i love and respect miley, i'm afraid this seems accurate :swan:

Also Miley had been inconsistent since Dead Petz, Younger Now, and EP eras. ESV feels like a variation of that, albeit with a MASSIVE hit single that pre-dated the album to save the era. It's a miracle she even recovered with Plastic Hearts.

Y'all are always looking for reasons outside the actual music when it's probably because album literally sucked. Barely any good songs outside the singles. :michael:
